Was Lampard a mistake

Sorry. But surely you can't mean Coleman ! .That lad has been the best signing we've had in years...Yeah He might be past it now..But he could never be accused of just taking the money..

No, but this issue of the "managers fault" when there's players that have gone through 2/3+ managers and gradually decline says more than it being a managerial problem

We dont have the players who can defend for 90mins .. sacking and hiring a new manager until the end of the season cant change that.

Tactics is the only thing we can change now but that still wont stop individual mistakes from happening but we need to try something different as we are going down with a wimper at this rate

We've had injuries as well. But as you say Clement is supposed to be a top coach..But our defending has been shameful. Its not all down to individual errors, and they come from confidence
Yep the injuries is probably the biggest reason.

But we keep conceding from corners and crosses from the wings. I think at least Carlo realised that and tried to fix it. I get nervous watching us at set pieces.

The only one who wasn't was Fat Sam. I know the football wasn't great but he stabilised us. The rest are just frauds
Lots of truth in that.
  1. Martinez was shambolic in the end, but bagged Lukaku and got 72 points in his 1st season which woulda been CL in other seasons outright. Martinez dined out on Moyes' legacy of energy and discipline, and the 'true' Martinez was exposed once that faded
  2. Koeman reputation as a player proceeds him. Horrible personality failed everywhere in mgt. Toxic signings and waste that lingers to this day.
  3. Silva yes, was too soon. Going OK with Fulham now he's learning the ropes properly. Terrible idea at the time wouldn't be any better now IMO.
  4. BFS - helped, yes. Poor signing in Tosun, otherwise good. Not sure where we'd have gone longer-term but can't see it would've been worse!
  5. Ancelotti - Shame we didn't get the best from him, or James. 10th and then the good times came knocking....
  6. Benitez honeslty thought he would stabilize our crap defence.
  7. Lampard, too little too late.

Slightly off this thread's topic but I haven't seen yet what the road back from the Championship looks like in terms of manager, funding, the new stadium etc. Conscious Usmanov's not gonna have bundles to lay around via Mosh for a while...

They’re all mistakes.
I mean just look at the other sacked mangers we’ve had…
Martinez. Doing very well coaching Belgium.
Silva. About to take our place in the prem with Fulham.
Koeman. New coach at Ajax.
Fat Sam and the boys. Still circling the sky’s like a vulture, ready to swoop.
Ancellotti. Boooo. Maybe lift a league and CL double at Madrid.
FSW. New extension and holiday home. Handicap improving at Caldy golf club.

He might turn out to be alright, but will it be 8n the PL? I can’t see where the next po8nt is coming from, I want a manager that’s doing it here and now not turn out alright sometime in the future.
Who? We've changed manager several times over the last few years and they've all done not very well. At this point it's critical - so the solution is not to dump one of the most intelligent, articulate and keen to prove itself heads in the football world, and replace it with another random unknown.

I'd hate it if we go down - losing that proud record of consecutive seasons at the top (apart from the arse who bribed their way in) - but further change would be more destructive in my view. Besides .... who'd come?

The idea Lampard will turn out ok isn't based on anything other than naive hope. You could give him as much time as he wants but he could easily take us nowhere.
Not quite true. He's intelligent, articulate, worked under a range of top managers with different styles and knows what makes a successful footballer.

What he's learning now (and with intelligence he knows how to learn) is something he's not necessarily experienced before, is how to cope with a squad so poor and paper thin and so mentally crushed. I'm convinced he'll be good for us. The journey might include the championship (I hope not) but I think he has the mental tools to be a top coach.

Was he a mistake, am not sure because I like Lampard, I like how he sees football.

Was this the right time to appoint him, absolutely not.

Is he culpable for some of the displays and the selections and line ups? absolutely - he doesn't get off Scott free in this.

Right now, am not sure if the whole "last roll of the dice" solution should be done, we are going down, so do we have one last roll in anger and get someone in to see if we get a bounce? Am not sure Lampard has what it takes to get us out the championship... playing 343 with a squad like Chelsea is worlds apart from what we have
