"Watch Classic Matches Again"

Still got the LP ..Nothing to play it on now though...
He,s lost his jacket.. Eddie Cavanagh ...
Eddie Cavanagh summed up for all of us what it is to be a Blue in that moment of unadulterated joy. As I have said before we Blues do like our little pitch invasion but his was the supporters' version of Marco Tardelli's players' nirvana. 1982 World Cup final.

I love this thread - Thankyou Dario Terracotta for all your efforts.

I remember blubbing uncontrollably after the 2nd replay of the 1977 League Cup final ....
Pleasure mate, other people have put cracking games in here too,me too regards that game,I remember the thrill of Latch putting us one up and we were ahead for so long I really thought it was ours, then we were out of it in the blink of an eye,Lyonsey rescues us at the death, then as you say, heartache!!

The noise created by our end prior to our equalizer is still one of my best memories as a Blue. Alien invaders would have turned back!!!big Bob!!!
Just realised I misread your post. I was referring to the Hillsborough first replay. Doh!!!
Was gutted by the second replay. The joy of Lyons' equaliser into a stretford end packed with Blues!! Can still see Darracott let ball go past into the six yard box from which they scored. Still don't know whether Lawson actually called for it or whether he just let it go.

for me as a kid growing up,those three games were my first proper experience of what our club is all about, the passion and raw emotion was something else,if there had been a trophy for the fans it wouldn't even have gone to a replay.

Combined as it was with FA cup run ending in the clive Thomas injustice made it truly mental 4 months or so from Lee taking over and the cup runs really getting going. Raw emotion is right. Roller coaster of extreme proportions.

Martin Hodge had a good game in that Derby, the Keeper he replaced was awful Jim Macdonagh signed from Bolton the smallest keeper I have seen for the blues! also an unsung midfield hero was Trevor Ross who was a very hard workman like midfielder who chipped in with some goals - also notice a very good young Steve McMahon who again should have never been sold to Villa to backtrack to the other lot - a great watch seen it before , but worth seeing it again.

Maybe we shouldn't have sold McMahon Joey, but on the flip side we used the dough to buy Trevor Steven:)

True David Johnson was another we let go to Ipswich who came back to haunt signing for the dreaded too, its as if we had offers from that lot turned them down , and they got them via the back door, at least we stole the great Kevin Sheedy from them;)
and not forgetting johnny mogsy mate!

from 46:00 mins,Sheff Utd v EFC 1974,great comeback by the Toffs:)

Heard the name garbutt mentioned for Sheffield Utd. Any relation to Luke I wonder.
Main memories of that game were police helmets flying when they made a few arrests on the away terrace during the game! One of my first always as a teenager so that was an eye opener. Also no stand on the camera side of ground for footy fans. It doubled as a cricket ground so seating was so far back they didn't use it for footy matches.
