In the introduction to the Big match I spotted my favourite referee of that era Roger Kirkpatrick who when marking a wall out used to pace out the ten yards , and sit on the ball till the wall moved back then he would throw it to the team awarded the free kick - no need for spray paint with him around a comical great Referee any one remember him?

He was a nutter and a [Poor language removed]!!!! Didn't realise he came from Leicester!
Better than some of the overpaid prima donas of today, he was a good fair Ref who was entertaining!

Fair does mate. I have to say I found him a real attention seeker at the time but nothing against the guy as such. I do not have a good word to say about the modern refs though!!!
He was a pure entertainer, did you read how much he got paid compared with today's prima donas like Lee mason today for instance!

As soon as you mention Lee Mason your argument is getting stronger and stronger!!! I have to admit I used to hate the showy refs like Hill, Thomas and therefore Kirkpatrick but the current crop do my head in. Paid a fortune and I do not even think they have even played 5 a side with their mates!!!
Hell we've fluked a few wins at West Ham over the years.. but the interview with Frank Lampard Sr (after) was worth the admission money - so laid back he almost falls off his chair.
Two great wingers there in Micky Lill and Tommy Ring and also the little general Bobby Collins - all supplying Royston Vernon - that team started to lift the blues out of the doldrums!
