Watches

So time to share the latest in my stable.. and maybe the last! Well until my wife expects some reciprocity in a few years…

Loving the leather strap. Makes it very every day wearable with my school girl wrists…

Lovely, that, mate. I have an Omega SM and was quite taken aback with how light it is. Very comfortable watches to wear, as well as lovely to look at.

I'm spring/summer cleaning this week - never-ending. Anyway, found a wristwatch amongst a load of crap. Is it worth 1000s or does it get in the proverbial bin ? The name is Mical.

Never heard of them, but that's not to say it isn't worth anything. Can you post a photo? Here is a listing of a Mical watch that goes for 800USD:

Cheers, unfortunately mine looks nothing like that. lol I am extremely incompetent at tech stuff, I'm afraid this is my best 'effort.'

We have discussed before, but here's my take.

On release, I think it was retailing in the UK for around £200, quickly sold out, with scalpers immediately reselling online for up to £500!

Reviews have been poor to say the least, 'plastic cheap feel', 'face prone to easy scratching, and 'naff straps'.

As a watch snob, that classic Speedmaster face just appeals to me, and as I can't afford 6k for an original, I would probably be tempted to get this.

So, unfortunately, I don't think this watch is worth very much. I found a similar watch (below)...The hands on the dial look similar, but I doubt it's the exact same model. But in any case, this watch sold for <20 USD. Another give-away is that the watch band looks to be of the "expansion" type (stretchy-type that you stretch around your wrist)...these don't tend to be found on high-end watches.

That's the best I can do...But it also costs nothing to hang on to (it's not like a sofa or 50" Flatscreen in size), and perhaps there is some personal reason/history for keeping it. Maybe just chuck it in a drawer for now (I'd hate to be the guy to tell you to chuck it, only to see it later on Antiques Roadshow with someone saying, "can you believe I found this in the trash and it's valued at $5000").

It’s not great quality, and the straps are SHOCKING, but they’re still fun and enjoyable. And there are some good aftermarket strap options.

Nothing like a real Speedmaster though. A similar look, but will feel nothing like the real deal.
