Bit of a scare finding it, memory playing tricks as to where I’d “deffo” stashed it. Apparently the dial type is Parchment. Can you post a pick of it please.

Thanks!! If I had to guess, it's model 16014 (a better picture would help me...) but google it, and it will give you a sense of it's value. Keep it and DO NOT sell it to someone who wants to give you a quick 1000 or 2000 quid for it. They are getting the better deal. It will sell much higher if it's restored. But I agree with you, these "official Rolex restorations" cost a ton of money, but to the Rolex-buying community (I'm not one of them) they will increase the resale price. On the other hand, it's a super nice watch so keep it until you find reason to pass it on to someone you care about.Bit of a scare finding it, memory playing tricks as to where I’d “deffo” stashed it. Thanks, digging it out yesterday also got me looking on Google for ID and value and I agree it looks like it’s a 16014, but Linen dial face, rather than the Parchment I had in mind. Thanks!! I’ll go down the independent repair route, i’ve been recommended a few now. My lad can hang fire for a few more years before he gets to wear it.
?Rotary enthusiast. Excellent quality and affordable imo. I have 3, one of which is from 1970 and was my grandad’s. Wind-up and all.
There’s only one thing worse than a fake Rolex and that’s a real one.
Sounds like a great plan, and your lad will love it when the time comes. (and yeah, I found "linen" dial as well when I did some googling).
I love the look of this Daytona style "speedtimer" from Seiko:

although at £590 it is pricey. I can wait and see if they pop up second hand (unintended watch joke there).
It looks great from here. I was a little put off by the non drilled lugs but no massive issue as I think I would keep it on the oyster. Sorry to hear you are not that happy with it, I think it is ace.I've got the panda one, it's a good looking watch don't get me wrong but I was a little underwhelmed for reasons I can't put my finger on. My picture doesn't do it any justice, it does look better in real life.

A couple of these up on Ebay already; I could be tempted.I've got the panda one, it's a good looking watch don't get me wrong but I was a little underwhelmed for reasons I can't put my finger on. My picture doesn't do it any justice, it does look better in real life.

Only a couple of bids at the minute, one is on 2 bids at £310 the other with 2 bids at £260.How much for? I can only imagine it's at a premium because the rarity. That said it looks to be in stock on Watchnation with a possible 10% off and Watcho where I got mine from (& you can also get 10% off usually) has a notify when back in stock, other sites say March so I think there will be more coming soon.
