Watches

Seriously considering a Reservoir Watch, really cool jumping hour and retrograde minutes complications. Can’t decide which one I like most, drawn to the white face as I don’t currently have one in my collection but the black GT dial is so appealing. Anyone any views or experience with the brand?

I don't have any experience with the brand, but I doubt many do; they launched in 2017 with a pretty steep price into a very crowded market. They seemed to get good press and do good at marketing (being mentioned in--and paying for--many write-ups in watch magazines etc.). They use a basic ETA movement, which isn't very exotic (but so do many other companies, such as Tag Heuer, etc.), but they do some in-house modifications for the retrograde function. They are generally viewed as overpriced in the watch forums where I've seen them mentioned. But they've also gotten a better reception than most new companies as well.

As always, buy what appeals to you...as you know, no watch makes a good investment, so if you are comfortable spending this $$ on a watch and can afford to, then go for it.

On par with my comment above about watch companies using a fairly basic movement and charging an arm and leg for it, here is my new Tag. I've never owned a Tag before, but this new version of an 80s classic was very appealing. It has a Selita movement SW200-1 (which is a basic generic movement, and as far as I can tell, Tag does very little modification to the movement), but the overall design of the watch is really cool to me. The rubber strap and clasp are especially well done, and the 12-sided bezel is quite cool.

I love the lume. Below is a photo from the Tag Heuer website:

I've got two of these that I've had for a long time. I don't wear them any more. What are people thoughts on them? I know they are huge but I've got a big wrist.. I've got a stainless with white face and an all black one..
