We are behind Bournemouth, Swansea and West Brom, Your argument is invalid
If you say so. I look at it a different way.....Lukaku plays when he wants, Baines and Coleman are not good defenders. Jags cannot head a ball under challenge. Barry is too old now and gets leg weary, McCarthy runs around, Cleverly runs around, Ross, Stones, Del are inconsistent but our better players. Kev is good when bothered. The team when all up and running are as good as most but with the inexperience and youthful inconsistencies that is going to be too little at the mo. We now have a chance to buy a few proven players albeit more expensive and still buy potential but have the finances to let those potentially good players be rested at the right time and be introduced a little less until they have ironed out there inconsistencies. Martinez to me is still a brave manager who wants to play a certain way rather than the mentioned teams who will battle and battle to keep PL status knowing they have no hope of challenging. I would rather still be trying to challenge rather than be content with PL status or bragging about 6th and 7th place finishes. Hey ho that's just me. Position isn't the be all end all its the intent that's floats my boat even if its failed.

We showed some rustiness'

Watford 1-1 Everton

Posted at17:21
Everton manager Roberto Martinez: “We had to work really hard for it. It was a good game, two teams with a lot of energy playing on the front foot. Watford were at their very best today.

“It’s a disappointment to concede from a dead ball situation so close to half time and because of the nature of the goal, the deflection.

“There was another 45 minutes to play from then.

“We never allowed Watford to regain momentum. We were strong in the second half again and the amount of chances we created, we showed a little bit of rustiness from the last few games. Another day we would have scored the winning goal.

“We were able to penetrate into a Watford team who don’t give you many opportunities at home.

“We had many good individual performances, Gareth Barry gave us a real fluency. At the back we dealt with the front two of Watford really well and we had a good focus."

Didn't see the game, but reading what people on here have said this is completely the opposite of what happened

How can we be rusty in April playing more or less the same 11 that plays every week

Why do you think they are all running about. Because there is no plan A never mind plan B

The man doesn't know what he's doing so how can his players

Define how Martinez is brave? By playing the same way every week in the face of the fact that it doesn't work.

The players aren't bothered about defence because he's not bothered about it. And Lukaku isn't bothered because he's made his mind up

Yea, of course Stones takes a lot of the blame, but he does things like this time n time again , but is being selected, Martinezs fault ! !Roberto is responsible for the lack of defensive work in training ( his own admission) and the setting up of a defence which is full of internationals and yet is one of the worst ( collectively ) in the league, and one that fails week in, week out !

Agree on the working on set pieces, or lack of it as you say. Also think it was unfair on Mori being dropped for Stones, but at the end of the Stones is boss, and him cutting out the mistakes will come with experience.

Baines and Coleman are not good defenders.
They're not in form but to claim that they're not good defenders is to ignore the numerous years that they were part of a solid defensive unit.

In addition both have also, on more than one occasion, been heralded as the best left back and right back in the league respectively.

Out of form yes, but saying they are not good defender is short-sighted. Personally it's the system at fault that's exacerbating their failings.

LOL

Yes with a little more money than most of the other teams. He can shop in Sainsburys now rather than Lidl.

£28m pound striker having season of career so far

14th

Good enough? Not even close

Who is realistically going to want to join a team who finishes just above the relegation zone?

Expensive Names looking for one last payday who know they can demand big wages

Plan A is more than enough if our midfield had a brain cell between them. They are not clever enough nor crafty enough. When I say brave other people might say stubborn but he wants to win not draw. He wants to go for it. It is not happening because of some of the robotic players we have that cannot use initiative. If RM does not buy at least 3 outstanding proven players this summer seeing as he has some financial clout then I will also call for his head. Hopefully the days of buying potential because its the cheap option will be behind us therefore I see next season as his last chance saloon. I still look at our team and just think too many players are just not that good.
