Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

The key message we would send to other players, teams and others around the world is- Everton is taking MUs former star cast offs so therefore still a small club.

But if he came for a fee that was less than 10 million and a massive wage cut , then he would make an excellent impact sub coming on in 2nd halves.

.

Quite possibly he would make a good impact sub in some games.

But even if we can convince him to take 1/3rd of his current salary, he would still be one of our very highest earners at 100k. Is it worth it for a substitute? Or can the wages be better spent elsewhere on better players with their best days ahead of them rather than behind?

Remember we are tied by FFP. Even with our outgoing players, Rooney would represent a huge amount of what we are allowed to add onto the wage bill this summer.

Sums it up nicely mate.

He hasn't scored from open play in 25 league games.

I haven't watched him more than 2/3 times this season, although I was aware of his low goal tally this season, but I doubt he was played alongside Ibrahimovic in a two-man strike partnership which was what I was advocating if he came here. He won't have lost any of his finishing ability or his "football brain" and so would undoubtedly, in that position, score and create goals at a higher frequency here, for me.

Not that we need him slotting 20 a season if we have Lukaku. Just another reliable source of 10-15 goals would be good.

United and England have tried in loads of positions over the last year or two, including as a second striker. It hasn't worked.

If we are looking for a strike partner for Rom, then surely it is better to go for someone who can run all day, harass defenders and allow Rom to concentrate on getting in the box.

Fair enough mate, you've obviously been following his career very closely. I'd still be made up if we got Rooney to partner Lukaku, but can see why people wouldn't be keen.

I think if they are considering this they will have gone it to in great length, not one they can afford to be wrong about.

if we're lucky its just them getting on board with the media nonsense to boost our profile and they really have no intention of moving for him
