Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

A great post.

Rooney coming back would be humilating for Everton. If he's any ambition left he'll go to a mid-table Premier League club who'll guarantee him being their star player, top earner and give him 30 plus starts a season. Do one Wayne, let that be the end of it now.

Sounds like it would be humiliating for you mate but certainly not for Everton

I honestly don't. Rooney is the past, the distant, distant past. He is nowhere near the player he was and I can't see what he would add to a team that is just beginning to take shape. I despair at this.
There is that aspect. Do we want him preventing a youngster coming through?

Rooney is hardly zimmer frame material yet.
We will hopefully be playing a lot of football next season in Europe and domestically.
The experience that a player like Rooney will bring to a young inexperienced squad will be invaluable. I would also add that a move to any club but in particular to Everton would invigorate his career

Gareth Barry has been given a contract extension by RK and is very clearly a squad player at this stage and will not play every week. Rooney would also bring a lot to the younger players.

I don't want it to sound as if I think we should sign Rooney at all costs.. I don't, but I certainly can see why people would say that we should.
Ultimately I think the finances may be a stumbling block.
Today, in my opinion was a flier to the Everton fans to see how such a move would go down.

£10/12m and I would take him no probs. We paid roughly that for Ashley Williams who is older. Anything morecand its a no no imo, I would love to see him back but wecneex to be realistic with how much we spend on him. But who I am - or we - to make this decision?

Zlatan didn't leave Man Utd years ago either claiming he was this massive United fan.

If he comes back he comes back, but more than anything it just shows me that football and indeed Everton lack any soul. I want him to retire from football not knowing what it was like to captain this great club, to score a derby winner (or even a derby goal), or to lift a trophy with us. He doesn't deserve to have any of that.

Nothing like a 13 year grudge against a 16 year old is there mate.

He can do one. Can someone tell me what exactly he offers to this side? How would he improve us? He wouldn't improve Everton in any capacity. He's finished and a move to the MLS would be best for him. We'd be wasting 150k a week on the basis of a "statement signing" ffs. He isn't even a statement signing.

A statement signing would be Manolas, Van Dijk, Reus. Not a player who wouldn't look out of place at Watford ffs.

If he didn't play for us before what would the reaction be? A big fat SWERVE. And it's true.

We've got a 19 yr old lad struggling big time in the position he would take up.

Lukaku is on about 109 mins per goal/assist

Rooney is on about 120 per goal assist

Barkley 216
Mirallas 239
Davies 583
Lookman 243

The financial argument against him coming is a good one. Saying He isnt good enough is ridiculous

And if he hadn't started his career here and left what would your reaction be?
