Was surprised to see he has the same number of assists as Barkley and Coutinho despite playing much less minutes.

Maybe those saying he's completely past it have got this slightly wrong.

& they appear to be league only stats, his record in the europa league this season is outstanding. A competition its looking more & more likely we will be in next season.

He does make sense from a football standpoint. Playing with Barkley behind Lukaku makes a ton of sense. The salary is still the problem. How the heck are we going to make that work with FFP? Lukaku and Barkley need deals done with big salary increases. We need a big time CB and Keane isn't the entire answer. We need another attacking option that can play out wide, especially if we are in Europe, and likely another striker as I don't see Rooney as someone that can spell Lukaku.

If anyone thinks Wayne Rooney will captain England at first game of next year's world cup they are deluded - it's widely said that if he went to china he'd never play international footy again

and people forget there was a clamour to recall gasgoigne for england while he was at us, especially after cup win over orient

ask yourselves, if he wasn't a childhood evertonian and any other player of similar age with two league goals for his club this season would it be regarded as, at best, a gamble or a retrograde step?

I would rather see a young kid with fire in his belly than giving that tw*t a bigger pension pot

and footy is a game of emotions so don't just wipe the slate clean, it's like 'big evertonian me' alan stubbs turning down champ league with us for sunderland cos they offered him a 2 year contract
