Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

All about debate, absolutely, but for every ounce of despair for the probable, pending Rooney deal, I reciprocate it back to the doubters in equal measure.

He's a top professional, a ruddy good football player and would lead us into the most important period for our club in over 20 years.

It's an absolute no brainer. Sign him.

Rubbish. Sun Heung-Min that plays for Spurs is just a great player, the South Korean market isn't big enough to justify it.

He is, as was Park Ji Sung - I'm just massively cynical as to the reasons of purchasing them.

I'm sorry he WAS a very good player, but his best days are behind him. Koeman is not only trying to inject the necessary quality, but pace into the side. Sadly nowadays, Rooney offers neither.

My older brother in the grief when he was given away, stated one day we would sadly resign him when he was old past his best pop belleied , and bald not far wrong if he resigns for us was he?
Apart from his hair transplants lol
It never works resigning older players of old - start a list two of the top of my head-
David Johnson- Francis Jeffers -
Manager wise the great Howard Kendal twice after his first fantastic managerial, spell -Anyone else who retuned to prove to be the exception not youth players by the way
Rooney may prove to be the exception - a big gamble - commercialy a more viable one for shirt sales ?

Not every player in the team has to be a speedster.

Question for you good sir / madam, why do you think Koeman wants him?

If they both hadnt played for european teams (PSV and Leverkusen) i'd agree but they were both good players - similar to Japan's golden boy Honda.

A chinese golden boy is the one the footballing world should be trying to get - imagine!!

I'd sign him for a number of reasons. He wants to sign , we will get at least a decent season out of him , he will help the youngsters , very good for the commercial side of the club , he's still a good player .... real easy !

Whilst I like the sentimental side of our club I would prefer we bought players for footballing reasons whilst obviously balancing the fee\wages budget. In that sense I think it's reasonable to say there are much better options out there.

If it is to be, then I'll begrudgingly accept but I'd prefer not to have us all over the media all season as a sideshow to a soppy prodigal son story. He left, he can stay out.

I think you know what the answer to that is...he considers him a good player. Seriously mate, the Wayne Rooney of 2-3 years ago I'd have at the club in a flash, sadly he is no longer producing or capable of those performances from 2-3 years ago, therefore that's why I and many others on here don't want him back.

For me, the fact is and has been shown as such, that Koeman is fairly ruthless when it comes to players in his squad, regardless of who they are. He sees something in Rooney that he feels makes it worth him coming in on whats reported as a two year contract, if he doesnt deliver, he'll drop him. Whats the issue?

Sell Lukaku and sign Rooney would be a disaster and will undo the progress made this season. He has been finished for 3 years. Try looking through a Wayne Rooney performance thread on a Man Utd forum and they have been slagging him off for at least 3 years now. If this happens it stinks of Kenwight.

Was just about to write just this. Saves me a job. :)

I'd rather we have him and then find out he really is washed up than not and always wonder if a fully fit and motivated Rooney had been keeping his powder dry for the last few years ready for this very moment.

He knows how to win things and be involved in big games. The more the merrier in my book.

And that to me is the clincher. Thus far RK and SW haven't put a foot wrong imo. If they think he will bring quality and, I'm guessing, a winning mentality, that's good enough for me.
