Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

A luxury squad player prone to injury's now and no longer fleet of foot - he will have an impact in games but is his real future potential is probably in coaching/mgt.

I think having Rooney for games we need to rest our preferred option ahead of him would be fantastic. If we are in europe next season, we need a deep roster to both compete in the league and make a cup run. We saw with martinez what a lack of depth can do.

Can't get near United team who are 5th yet we will spend ridiculous amounts in the hope he can do a job for us. I think this shows that our ambition is not what we hoped it would be.

If he came I would want it to really work out and would back him 100% but I think this is a decision made with the heart rather than the head.

Sorting a couple of centre forwards is more important.

The guy is a winner. As much as l disliked his move to ManUre he proved it was best for his development and to satisfy his need to win things. Something we could not offer at that stage of his career. It's a bit like Barkley but l sincerely believe his position is totally different as we are in a much stronger position than 2004. And let's not forget that Rooney's sale helped out the club financially when we needed it most. I think he would bring an immense experience to the club which would only but benefit the younger players and his name alone would act as a catalyst to many other players to join us. For one l won't decry him although l know many will.

Hard to make out his situation at United though. Managers can be fickle people and just want players out because they simply don't fit anymore. None more so than Mourinho who's as stubborn as they come.

Does he, at the very least, improve the squad? Yes he does. Surely that's how a football team grows, by improving on what you have?

The only way a squad improves is by buying first eleven players. Build the team, the squad will grow.

True that, Koeman is rather ruthless thou so I cant see him going for him just for jobs for the boys, but playing for Everton might help him physically roll the years back a couple, but i couldnt see any other top clubs being interested in him

Nah. Spurs bought son as a backup option, kane got injured, son filled that void and they won every game kane was missing I think.

You build a squad by buying a squad really. We'll buy about 5 players for the first XI this summer anyway, which will also make players like mirallas which will fit with what you say, which is the ideal way. But we still need to buy able backups for players like Coleman, who we won't be able to better.

Anyone who has watched United over the past two years will tell you how rapid Rooney's decline is.

Sure, it's feasible he could come here and find a new lease of life but I think it's unlikely. The lad is absolutely shot at the top level. If you've seen him play this year you'd realise he doesn't belong in the Premier League.

I personally wouldn't be bringing him back to Everton. Shove the sentiment to one side and realise that he can barely get into goalscoring positions anymore because he's so off the pace.

Those sporting typists sure have a lot of space to fill. Here's Rooney again. They can even summon up a picture of him in a blue jersey.

Imagine that. it almost writes itself. Again and again. And again. It sells papers, and makes folks answer polls. Everybody knows Rooney.

(shakes head) I'd be more surprised if I wasn't reading this somewhere, I suppose.
