Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

I'm not fully on board with this but in reality he's the only man I know who'd give us a chance in a derby.

He will have a revival. He still has qualities in his game - he's just lacking that lethal yard of pace he once had.

I'd give him a two and half year deal. No more.

You're missing the point, nobody's sniffing around to pay that in July either...and this has been pointed out to Lukaku, hence the Jan re-think/option - It works for both parties in a 'Hobson's Choice' kind of way

Disclaimer; all of this is likely to be total wham obvs.
Exactly
If nobody is sniffing around now why would anybody including Lukaku think they will be sniffing around in Jan.
So why the clause saying he can go in Jan

Imagine this. We sign him and he scores the winner for us at Old Trafford next season. Gets booed by Utd fans and proceeds to kiss the badge.
Why would Man U fans boo him ? he's their greatest goalscorer, former Captain and club legend. Utd don't care that his departure is imminent, they've witnessed his ever sharpening decline and are happy for him to return to us to play out his dotage at his former Club who they do not regard as any threat. And finally why would he kiss the badge and disrespect the fans of his former cl..........oh wait.

I heard that up until last week he was really keen to return...however since then he has had his head turned by John Terry's mums style of foreplay!

An ITK, has it that:
1) Rooney is a done deal.
2) No real money offers are sniffing around Lukaku; early days yet I know, but still there's usually stuff going on in the background.
3) If we're not doing it in the top 4 by Jan Lukaku will be allowed to go then.
4) All things being equal, Rooney will be in a front 2 just behind Lukaku

Time will tell I suppose.
All of this makes sense bar the lukaku comment it's Ludacris why teh eff would we sell in January we could still have three trophies to play for

Rooney would help some of the bottlers in our team in the big games, he was excellent against us in semi last year, he would be able to teach Barkley when to release the ball, he can take a free kick, never misses pens and might be able to encourage players to join us, it's a no Brainer for me

I know we don't need to sell, but the longer it goes without a new contract, the more it tilts in his favour. Thus he can have this as his 'half a loaf' option.

i highly doubt anyone can say at this moment in time, rooney will be in a front two just behind lukaku. He could be utterly horrendous in pre-season or get an injury and then whoever starts in that position instead could have an impressive run of form, they're not just going to get dropped when rooney's fit again. We've slapped £100m on lukaku's head, if a team comes in with that offer first day of the window we'd almost likely sell, also.

Anyway, i'd like to believe we will sign him for that role, as well as one of lukaku's backup, i think rooney would be great there myself.
