What he can offer though is experience , a winning mentality and guidance to the younger players.
Also a high profile name for other targets to notice has signed for us.

I agree he could be a good influence on our younger players and he may be useful as an impact sub but that is it. He would be coming here expecting to be a first teamer. We need to sign better players than him in his
position for our first team

Trouble is he has not got a season in him. He will always have a hunger for the game however he is well past it
He has no other premier clubs after him as he is washed up and past it
This is down to Kenwright and nostalgia, he cant get into the United side so why should he get into ours

I think its massively embarrassing being linked to him we should be focusing on bringing in talent not has beens, im not suprised Barklay and Lukaku want out when the best we can do is Rooney speaks volumes about our ambition

We have probably got a sell on fee clause from when we sold him.

Its already open to debate as to whether or not he'd be worth a punt on. Having to pay a fee too? Wouldn't be on for me.

I don't think it's a case of reigniting his hunger. He always appears to have a genuine desire to play and play well and his obvious frustration when he isn't doing this backs it up. But it's debatable whether he's physically up to it.

A lot of people seem to be forgetting just how bad he was for the first half of this season. It's quite possible that Mourinho only kept picking him until it became plainly obvious to everyone, including Rooney, that he wasn't cutting it and he could therefore drop his captain with no fear of it causing a rift in the dressing room.

That said, I'd probably back Koeman and Walsh's judgement over my own in footballing matters so if Rooney does come back here's hoping I'm completely wrong.
