Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Say we got him in the summer. By the time we'd get him he'd have something like 620 appearances over about 12 years with C-league+league+England duty and rarely had an offseason to recover. It just wrecks your body and attacking mid in the prem is probably the most taxing position to play on your body. He's going to need a much lighter workload or in order to succeed (say 40 matches/year tops) and retire from international play because while you may be getting a player who's just 31-32 but he's played a hell of lot more matches than someone who's 35-37.

gareth barry still looks and plays great though mate!

Never seen Barry have 3 bad games in a row, never mind 3 bad seasons.

Barry is a specialist in his position and his game has never relied on pace. Since Rooney's legs have gone he has been tried for club and country; out wide, up front, behind the striker and in a similar role to Barry. He's been awful in all and held both teams back considerably when they've tried to accomodate him.

Gareth Barry also doesn't play internationally, was terrible and looked washed up 2 years ago when he played every match when we went to Europe and hell doesn't even have to break a slow jog. He also spent 2-3 years picking splinters out of his butt planted to the City bench and gets to spend summers at home now. However he's fine with an offseason, a weeks worth of rest and a occasional sit down (usually because of yellow cards).

Rooney would probably be fine here and might have a bit of a career resurgence if he played for us. However in order to do that he's going to retire from any international play (or get retired) he'll have to start a few matches from the bench and/or get rest somewhere too (especially if we are in Europa).

Barry was absolutely abysmal in Martinez's second season.

Sorry if it has already been mentioned but does anyone else think it's strange that reporters arnt all over this trying to get a war of words going between koeman and Jose over us talking about their player? Just seems odd that there has been very little or no reaction from Utd Atall.

Barry was a big part of the city team and played 40 games per season for them.

I don't agree with the parts of this post I have highlighted.

Usually when a player any player is spoken about openly by another teams manager, the press will ask for a reaction off the players current club. Can you imagine for instance klopp or conte had made the comments Ron made?sky sports etc would run at Ill feeling or tension between the two into the ground. I just find it strange that this seems to have gone away as soon as it came.

So do you think it's gone away or its done?

The lads got a point.

I can explain though. Only when it's absolutely necessary in their eyes do the press mention Everton. We're playing Chelsea and are doing fairly well at the moment...

Lukaku v Costa poll on Talksport and the comparisons in the papers..

Usual really.
