Legs can't do what he wants them to anymore, can't stay with people who go past him and highlighted today was the couple of times he tried to dive in and completely missed ball and player, did the same in games for United last year as well, unless your picking a team to compliment him he can't be starting, and he's not good enough to build a team around him anymore.

Worth the gamble but the gamble has failed.

Disagree.....with the statement above...

Rooney can still do a good job for us & score important goals he just needs to be managed better...

Will still score goals & have a big influence in games he plays however he does need to be used less & more effectively....

Which goes against what every last person has said about why Rooney has been poor for a few years st United prior to coming here, including former teammates and coaches etc, the narrative then was that Rooney struggles when in and out of a side and needs a large run of games to reach his sharpest.

Can't have it both ways, simple fact is he's 32 not lived a particularly conducive life in terms of helping to prolong his career, has had several quite major injuries. And probably has more games in his legs at the highest level than any player in the league.

All players reach a point where the game becomes too fast for them, his is pretty much now.

Some of his passing and turns in to space are top class at times. A valuable asset to have in the squad.

As others have mentioned, he still has the technical ability and vision that lesser footballers lack. But his big problem is he can’t really be expected to go 90 any more. Why can’t he be a useful player to bring on later in games? He could really excel them

As most of us seem to think he should not be in the starting line up maybe we should sell him in January to China.More dosh for Wayne and a stupid fee for us while he is still in the spotlight.

He has been playing week in week out (bar injuries) for the best part of 16 years at the top level of the game. Playing for England has curtailed his ability to recuperate each summer, allied to his lifestyle choices, that haven't aided him in prolonging his career, but restricted it. Most top premiership footballers probably break into the first team in their late teens and you wouldn't expect them to be a force in the premier league 16 years later, why should Rooney be any different?

Exactly mate, and for one reason, the fairytale of it, nothing based on facts or evidence which show clearly he's been declining badly for three to four years now
