Premier League stats for matches played, goals, assists and total minutes for last 6 seasons.
Have to take into account his shift from striker to wide player / midfielder during that time, and also the decline in the quality of the team around him too.

It's preseAson!! Everyone is slow and playing off tempo and out of form! We are really the worst fans if we don't have patience with our new team! All will be well. Last season he was great in patches so a run of form and fitness will bring Rooney back

I think it will help if he had a clue how he was meant to be playing. It seems like him, Sandro and Klaasen have been told they are playing together and to figure out as amongst themselves what to do.

Think you'd struggle to find any United fan that would agree with him being great during last season.

Lots of people seem to think that once competitive footy starts Rooney will find some form. Unfortunately, I think he'll look even worse in proper matches where the opposition are up to speed.

As I’ve pointed out elsewhere, he marginally out scored Niasse last season, playing 8 more games.

I really hope I'm wrong but there'd need to be a complete transformation in the direction his career/form has been going in. Right now I think he'll be benched around early November and off to the MLS next summer.

The technique is still there. Physically and mentally he looks the same as he did at United. The only positive thing I can say he is smiles a lot more.

I’m still at a massive loss as to why we brought him back. The wages he must be raking in for a very limited player.
I thought Koeman was just having a laff at first. He wouldn't be a terrible bench option and he could provide some encouragement to the younglings coming through the ranks. Little did I know he may feature in the starting 11!

Koeman doesn't strike me as being a mug but he's let himself down here thinking of the name rather than the reality of what has been happening with Rooney's performances.

The sad thing is that given his versatility I can see a lot of excuses being made for him on here. 'He needs to be played in a deeper role, he needs better players around him' etc.
