2017/18 Wayne Rooney

Wayne was never going to be much of an asset on the pitch.
Despite his sound bites about helping to take Everton to the next level...thanks for that Wayne.

I would much rather see those wages payed to a player like Gareth Bale. But he will not join us.

Just to set expectation Bale is on £600k and Rooney is on like £150ish.

Bale is top scorer for Wales, part of a team that took them to a semi-final of a major tournament. Has scored in CL and world club cup finals and has 5 more years to add a few more trophies to the cabinet. We will have to see if Bale dramatically deteriorates as Rooney did, but if Bale keeps on being the main man when it matters most then he will be ahead of him in alnost every way.

If Ronaldo stayed at OT then Rooney probably wouldn't have been top goal scorer for utd.

If Rooney moved to real or Barca he would have torn that league a new rectum

Its mad how people are blind to the past

Rooney, these days is a shell of his former self, does not look even remotely like the same player.

But its as if people have completely forgot what he was about, for 13-14 years hes been absoloutley sensational at club level, without a doubt one of the best weve seen in the premier leauge. People forgot this too easily when comparing him to others.

Not sure people are forgetting that he was sensational, but he surely isn't now and he isn't worth his wages at the moment. No criticism of his past achievements.

I'm not forgetting it but his best was given to Man U. and has no relevance to me.
Man U saw Shergar in his pomp. We got a can of dog food.

Ronaldo is the same age and still doing it so in my book the comparisons are fair and Bale is around the same age now as Rooney was when he started to go off the boil so if he comes back to the premiership we will have a clear comparison going forward with him too.
