We need to talk about England fans.

Should England be banned from a tournament or two?

If anything needs banning it's social media.. it gives idiots a platform to voice their idiotic opinion and have it publicly announced. FB and twitter also wrecking people's mental health.
I deactivated Facebook in March last year because of Lockdown and blocked Twitter on my iPhone browser. Social Media really is a wrecking ball for mental health, as well as BBC News when they Covid report.

Talking of the media, they don’t help matters at all….. they trawl Twitter looking for tweets based on what their article is about, then say “People took to Twitter…..” before posting embedded versions of their tweets into the article.

This allows the idiots who voiced their opinions, to have it spread further amongst people who don’t even use Twitter in the first place and thus make the problem worse.

Well done mate. This brushes all the continually heinous England fan behaviour under the carpet. A good counter.
ask any individual who sneaked in and they will say they didn’t do anything wrong. Blagging into concerts, festivals and finals has been lauded heroically in the passed. Fact is that when its done one a huge scales like last week it’s ugly.

similarly, booing an opponents team sheet every other saturday is the norm at goodison, yet when you boo a national anthem it’s horrendious. Both in a crowd scenario are very much the same.
singing “fight fight where ever you may be” is sang by thousands home and away, again something similar sung by England fans it completely sinister.
if you ask me, lot of football fans are idiots. plenty of fans go for the atmosphere, and by this they mean getting on booze before and after - most can barely remember the game. I’d rather go and watch the game, get a full pitch perspective that you miss on tv, support your team and take the kids. Could do without the booing, fighting and jibbing in.
but if you want to sort England fans out, you need to sort out culture at club level, but most people don’t want to acknowledge that.
Saying x is worse than x is pretty ridiculous. Internationals are just an extension of what is going on in grounds around the country with a media spotlight on them.

With respect mate is a huge amount of whataboutism rather than accepting the justified condemnation of the toxic stain England fans are on international football and the game itself. Peculiar how Scotland, Wales and Ireland can also attend games in good numbers and yet behave immeasurably better consistently as a collective.

If Scotland got to the final, London would still be burning.

I think you are missing the point. England fans act like dumb idiots… becauee the countries club fans act like idiots.
The point I was making is that I go and watch england and I’m embarrassed by large sections of the fan, I am also embarrassed by some fans behaviour here, and other clubs up and down the country.
So yes let’s talk about england fans, and then let’s talk talk about how fans behave up and down the country.
With respect, you are saying “look at them” - because the media is highlighting it… are you as critical of club fans, maybe our fans in Lille for example?
You pointed at the our beviour in Rotterdam as proof we are nothing like England fans. In Lille we look pretty the same - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/f...s-clash-police-Lille-ahead-Europa-League.html

Do you think singing “fight fight”, booing opposition teams is ok?
Do you think the Lille behaviour was ok?

if you do, fair enough. But the baviour of England fans is only a reflection of what goes on at other clubs up and down the country with less media spotlight.

You tell me where the line is for a “just part and parcel of football” to behaving like a stain is? Everyone has their own idea.
For what it’s worth, I would love football to be more family friendly internationally and club level.

As @GrandOldTeam illustrated perfectly above the Rangers fans ghastly behaviour seldom manifests when following the Tartan Army. Same for Swansea and Cardiff with Wales mate.

I’d say a large part of “the English problem” is deflecting from it.

So you aren’t prepared to notice that it’s a problem with English football fans? If tolerate the behaviour of your club footvall, then national team will be next.
For the record, Scotland’s behaviour in london before Wembley wasn’t pretty in case you didn’t notice.
Where is the line you find acceptable? As you said, we need to talk about England fans, and in doing so we need to acknowledge the culture of football fandom / rivalries / ect.
If fans behave unacceptably at club level, including at Everton, why would you want them to behave better when supporting England. Supporting England is like an away day crowd.
You seem unwilling to engage in this debate because you like to be club not country kind of person. Club fans and national fans are the same people though

I love England.

I support the England football team.

These idiots need to feel unaccepted and unwelcome at matches and as supporters.

Decent people need to reclaim the England side and not abandon them to these social abominations.

Hope they identify and prosecute as many violent offenders as possible.
This is my position. It’s the definition of what is idiotic behaviour, and what is part and parcel of football?
its a small step from booing the opposition team names getting called out to booing a national anthem.
it’s a small step from standing in Lille central square and drinking all day turning anti social and arriving at Wembley before a kickoff to soak up the atmosphere, and turning slowly turning anti social.
it’s “boisterous fun” for some, menacing for others.
It’s a small step from the films of Everton fans climbing through windows in the 86 fa cup final to England fans jibbing in last week.
Small step from Derek mountfields wife getting abuse from Everton fans for not being from liverpool, to England fans abusing non English fans.
Non of it would acceptable outside of football. For decent people to reclaim England supporting, decent people need to reclaim club football fans from the behaviour above.

@chicoazul can you recognise that?

You seem too much rose spectacles to accept my clearly articulated points mate. Which is sound, but you’re part of the problem I just hope you see it one day as you seem a nice sort.

Can’t believe he’s throwing Everton under the bus to deflect from England. Can’t be too popular on here that
I’m litterally saying I follow England, they have a problem. I follow Everton. They are not innocent and not immune to similar behaviour when opportunities arise.
Not throwing anyone under the bus but when you are saying we need to talk about England, I’m ageeeing, but you are not prepared to acknowledge it reflects
behaviour closer to home, and at every ground across the country.
How can I be part of the problem by saying the culture of football needs to take a look at itself? I get your persepective of England fans but i don’t understand how you are not prepared to call out our problems when we see it.
Part of the problem with football, politics ect in this country is that we are quick to point at the faults of the other team / party, yet defend our own team / party for similar behaviour.
You don’t like England, I apreciate that, but you haven’t articulated the english behaviour half as well as you think you have in the wide context of football culture.
