Yep, agreed. The number of times Barry broke up play and found a clever ten-yard pass to turn the play around and get us moving up the pitch. Not a spectacle, but very solid. Look at his passing on Four Four Two. More impressive than what McCarthy did with the ball. But no big sliding tackles.

We have Besic for that. :P

Thought Jags really cleaned up his act and had a excellent second half. Other notable mentions: Barry, Mirallas and Lukaku put in a really good shift. Also Lukaku's first touch has improved by about 200%.
Barry looked like the international break was exactly what he needed. Compare his last thirty minutes yesterday to his last thirty minutes against Chelsea - it's like watching two completely different players. The irony is that, because of this, Jags had a much easier game than he did against Chelsea. It's therefore more difficult to say for certain Jags played better, although I tend to agree with you that he looked improved at least.

Mirallas appears to have been given licence to roam across the three attacking midfield spots - he popped up time and again in the middle, and cut in repeatedly from wide left looking to shoot (no surprise he scored from that approach). The right wing is NOT his most effective position - did anyone else notice that as the game progressed and he spent more time on the left, they moved Wisdom over to LB (memories of Mirallas destroying Wisdom in a merseyside derby not so long ago)?

Lukaku's first touch for his goal was perfect. Simply perfect.

One thing from yesterday, is the amount of times our full backs or wingers had the chance to whip the ball in the box first time and instead cut back and ultimately played the ball back or put in a awful cross. Just get it in the mixer.
