Having kicked Payet off the field and then their speedy sub getting injured, that game was their for the taking.

I thought both Barry and mc Carthy played well but Barkley had a poor game. But a point is good and I thought we looked solid if only we had a bit more quality going forward as RM is now saying on the radio let us down.

No one outside United, City,Arsenal, and Chelsea will ever win the league until those teams spend less or the rest spend more. Just a sad reality of the game these days is money talks. Classically and historically doesn't have an effect on the pitch when they've bought some good players after staying in prem for a few years. Today was not a great performance but it wasn't as poor as people are reacting. Fact of the matter is West Ham is a decent team THIS year and any decent team on the road is a tough game in the Prem. Sunday night will be roughly 1/3 of the way of the season, its all about where you finish.

"classically and historically" both Chelsea and City have fought relegation, often without success.

In fact, City were in the third division as recently as 1999.

:)

To my knowledge, West Ham have never fallen to that level......certainly not in my 50 plus years of following football :pint2:

But hey......you knew how the fumedores roll when some team steals the points from us, the rotters

yup, nothings guaranteed anymore. That being said it was a decent result, nothing to be thrilled with but not a bad one either.

So historical records don't change your expectations? Come on.
I recognise that they haven't been overly impressive over the years but so far this season they have done really well. Since we played them today I think that it is reasonable to base my expectations on how they are currently playing.

Well I'm leaving this as I think you're probably just a massive bell, who gets his sh!t and giggles by calling people stupid to make up for the microscopic penis he uses to bother small dogs down the local park.

edited as I see Esk has dealt with this already.

Point about deserved. Thought we'd nicked it in the end with that rom toe poke. They could have scored again at the start of the second half, but we could have got something in the last 20. Hopefully this will set up us nicely for Villa

Indeed...that said, Rom still had a lot to do.

That goal and the one last week were Jimmy Greaves type goals.

Rom took it round the keeper and slotted.

It was Jimmy's stock in trade when faced with a one on one with a goalie.

You don't see it much these days.....most strikers try drinking it over him, a la Lineker....or just try to blast it past him.

Or trail an ankle to get the pen

How do you expect to a) win the league or b) get in a champions league spot if you are satisfied with a point away to one of the league's classically mediocre teams? A team that historically fought relegation in many years or yo-yo'd between the championship and the premier league. They've been a little better of late but they are by no means a top side.

This is a side that Everton have beaten six times out of the last nine games. A side that have only beaten us once in the last 20.

It's your ambition that is laughable. A good point? We'll be in 9th place by Sunday night. Not good enough for me.

We've had a harder run of fixtures than any other team. 9th place at this stage is perfectly acceptable.
