Koeman wouldn't have come near a football club where he had to teach the basics of controlling and keeping the ball and moving it on. He'd never have taken over here after Moyes.
You are right in that because Koeman is further along the management hierarchy to have to come in and rebuild a club. For Roberto it was a huge step up, he did his best, he represented us outstandingly well but he ultimately failed. It happens.

When he was asked about the rumoured £50M manure Bid for Barkley in a the press conference he asked 'How much?', the journo said £50 million and he said "nah, we wont be letting anyone go on loan this season" at that point i genuinely loved the man!

How the hell did it go so wrong?

Must resist the urge to write dissertation.

It has to be Wolfsburg. First match in the group of death, under the lights at Goodison, and we absolutely obliterated a genuine member of the European elite.

What a night.

Failure is relative to what you see as success: Moyes and Martinez failed in relation to Royle because Royle secured a trophy; Martinez failed in relation to Moyes because he didn't secure top half finishes consistently; Moyes failed in relation to Martinez because he served up utter muck compared to the best football we witnessed since the 80s for long stretches under Martinez; Royle and Martinez failed in relation to Moyes because Moyes delivered a CL qualification spot; Royle and Moyes failed in relation to Martinez because they didn't smash through the 70 points in a season barrier.

Abstract analysis but I see were you are coming from. Martinez failed because he was going to take us down had he been allowed to remain. He refused to adapt his formation no matter the opposition. Add to that that he failed to adequately prep his team to play that formation, set pieces and fitness in general being my exhibit A and B.

Beating Moyes' Utd has to be my one best memory. More to do with the fact that is was Moyes more than anything. The odd belter of a performance, but that soon faded.
Worst memory without any doubt, and it wasn't even on the pitch....seeing his grid plastered on the main stand.
