Mates daughter just had a baby and they’ve named her Lourdes. I said I didn’t realise you were so religious. She honestly didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. Baffling

The most popular names are not very unusual and really rather traditional - For the boys it's Muhammed (and variations of), Oliver, Harry, Jack, George, Noah, Leo, Jacob..... nothing new there.

Could it be you're noticing names you personally find unusual and discounting normal names?

I've just realised there's a guy in work who's three kids have three names from this list. Fits him to a tee the boring so and so.

Another friend from work just had a son name madryn, never heard of it before but a bit of welsh tbf.

Yeah, but Steve or John is a lot less obvious than Tyson. Unless it’s Tyson Fury, which I very much doubt.

it wasn't that long ago though that names like Oliver, etc were old fashioned but now they are back in trend. My sister in law thought she was being dead clever and a modern mum calling her daughter Eden, until I pointed out that she'd be called Edna at school. Guess what she is now called at school..?
