Where do we go from here?

I thought it was just the bottom 3 teams that went down, not the bottom 6 teams.
We have not pull ourselves away from the bottom 3 as much as we like imo. One bad result from us and one good result from them will probably be enough for us to slot into relegation spot. 18pts in 17 games. 2 games away from mid season, if we win both we are on 24, just about half of what is needed to survive the drop. That's relegation pace isn't it?

Think we have performed at relegation pace points wise. Although not in the bottom three, the same points tally from the next 17 games will see all of us with a squeeky bum. Honestly think we'll turn it round. Now we'd basically need title winning form in the second half of the season to make the European positions and that's probably a bridge too far. But I think we'll get back to winning ways and wether we finish 7th or 13th will depend on how we do in the cups.

Bent and Jones will pull our defence to pieces with their movement. Cant see us getting anything from this game, but I hope we do!!!

Does that make sense

Then Burnley at home, play alot better than us but more importantly they play the ball on the deck, nice to watch, but I think we will get revenge for earlier in the season. End the year on a high note, but it might be we will be in the zone by then too.

Do I sound pessimistic, just cant see anything to be confident about at the moment

You say title-winning form is a bridge too far but in the past couple of seasons, we've produced sustained runs of excellent form (don't know the exact stats but something like 1/2 defeats in 14/15 games or around that level, I believe). Perhaps not title-winning form but I still have faith this side, with our players back, can go one of those runs. Our last 10 games are very promising.

And yeah, I know we're in trouble at the moment. But there are reasons for hope.

I see plenty of reasons for hope mate and have plenty of faith in the side. mainly due to our recent history under Moyes and with basically the same players. I'm sure we'll put together a decent run of the type you mention but (and I haven't done the maths so may be off the mark) I think we'd need to get something like 14 or 15 wins in a 20 match unbeaten run. bearing in mind that Villa are going to be there or there abouts and spurs seem to have found some kind of stability. City are a bit of an unknown quantity but they have beaten Chelsea and Arsenal. with mancini, could go either way. As I say, a lot will depend on how far we progress in the cup competions and wether are luck changes regarding injuries

No. What you describe, dropping into the bottom 3, would be "relegation pace", but that's not where we are now & there's no reason to believe it's where we will be at the end of the season. If, as you outline, we gain about half the points needed to stay up at the mid-point of the league season then that's not "relagation pace" either - it's survival. So, based on the current league table and our points tally we are not currently at "relegation pace". For you to claim : "You can't deny it. It's a statistic fact." is wholly inaccurate.

It's vital that we have a good Christmas.
If we lose points during this period, then we are up against it for a while.

I feel we're playing a lot better now than we have been, possibly since the derby, but we need a bit of luck which we haven't had so far.

I'm a bit more positive about our chances of survival, and actual placings than I was 6 weeks ago.(y)

I'd feel a lot better if we could win a match or two.

The longer we go without winning one concerns me.

Two wins on the trot would pull us up to mid table. We need to get it done sooner rather than later and need to stop wasting opportunities like the one we had just this past weekend against Birmingham.

Regardless of Brum's form, they were ripe for the taking and we didn't do it.
