Said at the start of the season I was expecting 7-10th. Maybe if we reinforce in the window this month and have luck with injuries we can finish higher. Just think its about building rather than immediate pay off.
It can only be in your own hands if your're in the top 4.

When I wrote all the teams in the Top 8 had Top 4 in their own hands City were in 8th.
Many of the teams not in the top 4 had games in hand (some 2 games) and all of those teams still have to play each other at least so it's still probably true now.

We are not a vintage top four side but this years league is a not a normal league. The rs are likely to grind out the title, but everyone else is capable of dropping points. We might not be great but if wenkeep performing as we are we will be close, and if we add a couple of squad stregthening signings, notably options for rotation up top, we might pick a couple more wins that swing it out favour.

We don't look good enough to finish in the top 4. A realistic target would be 5th or 6th but this team could very easily make a hash of that too because whereas we are capable of a decent run and beating top teams, we are always just as capable of the complete opposite and having a poor run and losing 4 on the trot against normal teams. Consistency is our biggest weakness and has been for years and it is going to take a few transfer windows for Carlo to rectify that.

City Liverpool United will be in the top 4. Spurs or Chelsea will be favourites for the fourth spot. Leicester look best after that. We’ll be in and around 7th I feel which would be a vast improvement on where Ancelotti picked us up. The target all season has been a return to Europe so if we achieve that then the project is on track.

The league is so tight this season it’s hard to call. A few wins on the bounce keeps us in the mix for CL and a few defeats we’re mid table. Suspect we’ll finish 7th or 8th as is customary but if we can finish higher than that i‘ll be very pleased. And it is very possible.

The FA seem intent on having a Liverpool-United title race judging by the decisions United have been getting it will happen. That's the top 2 locked.. we need a combination of good luck and some signings in January to come good straight away if we are to have any chance of competing for a top 4 spot.
Yes, mathematically, and I suppose that was your point. For the sake of the exercise, though, it wouldn't work for Chelsea today and in terms of winning the league I don't think it will work much longer for Liverpool the way Man City are playing.
