Any decent manager young or old thinks: "Everton? Didn't the last manager give them their best ever PL season and then they sacked him the following year?. I think I'll swerve them".

I think this is the wider point really. I have no objection to Tuchel taking time out. He did a brilliant job with Mainz but took them as far as he could. He did the dignified thing and left, in all honesty I have more respect for that than a manager clinging on waiting for another job.

However one of the few things Kenwright and Everton can offer to a manager is the rather simple concept of loyalty and time to manage. In the absence of that it's hard to see us attracting a particular quality of manager.

I'd PMSL if Pereira came in.

He'd struggle to get 50 points in the big time leagues. He needs to stick with the semi-professional scene.

This would be funny if we weren't currently sat on 12 points or whatever god awful tally we have so far. I've given up looking at the table.

Spurs sack managers all the time yet are always attracting big names, Newcastle are a joke of a club with no money, idiot fans and a bad owner yet De Boer said he was interested when pardew left. Don't underestimate the lure of managing a PL side right now.

All this scaremongering over martinez is like a lousy husband saying to his wife after years of neglect and disappointment "yeah go on and leave you'll never find anyone else who wants you"

Yes. He's made an identity for himself in the game along those lines: the chairman who doesn't do kneejerk. I expect him to continue in that vein.

There is only Roberto out there who could manage us.
Nobody else could do a better job than he has this season

He has. I have little doubt he's going to start over Martinez. There's a pragmatism there too. If he chooses the wrong manager he could quickly end up how Johnson was.

If you make less decisions you are less likely to get it wrong. Self preservation ahoy.

Only identity he has is one that doesn't win anything. I can guarantee he will continue in that vein though.
