Who could replace Martinez ?

I think you're wrong mate.

If we're in real danger of relegation come early March then, with 10 games to go, Kenwright might sack Martinez then, but even then, I doubt he would. 29, maybe 28 points or more after Stoke away, Martinez' job is definitely safe and the whole player situation will then be dealt with in the Summer, one way or t'other.
Maybe. I do think it'll be determined by other team's results below us too. If thee or four aren't adrift as is usual after January that scenario you paint might be a bit optimistic. I hope you and esk have this spot on. Encourages me that a couple of the more level headed are being optimistic, tbh. Fingers crossed.

I still think Martinez deserves more time. But, if it carries on this bad run we should go for Richard Ayoade. Young, talented and English plus he is upto speed with modern technology. His post match interviews would be tremendous.

I've put this out there before, and this is probably not going to happen but Simeone is welcome to a PL move. De Boer seems like a brilliant manager as he is Dutch and we all know how good they turn out, but remember he turned down Liverpool.

The future sale of the club is tied to Premiership survival not success prior to sale. Any newcoming owner with significant funds would significantly revise the playing squad anyway, so as long as survival is guaranteed then the value of the club does not change much other than if we were to (i) qualify for the CL or (ii) win the Europa League - both of which even with the most blue tinted spec's seem unlikely scenarios this season.

I agree if the financial "value" of the club was to be damaged then Martinez is in trouble, but in the absence of relegation I don't see that.
Yeah, it's the latter spectre of relegation I was referring to. Anything that threatened that - more especially these days with the massive tv funding involved that makes all PL clubs a real attraction - will not be tolerated.

I suppose the debate is deciding what the trigger point is, time wise/points wise, that Kenwright and Martinez have to play with here before corporate decisions have to be made. If it was left to Kenwright it'd be later rather than sooner. I worry that Kenwright might not be in the driving seat on this though and other voices are now stronger in the club than they were when Kenwright stood firm over Smiths late dismissal.

Dutch do make great managers, can we have a joint partnership of Royston Drente and Andy Van to run the club.

Do I detect a change of view Dave?

The earliest Bill will sack Martinez would be say after 12-14 games into next season, assuming no significant improvement in form this season but survival, and a continuation of poor form in the first third of next season.

The Board would obviously revise their new player and player wage budgets towards the end of this season, but I really doubt Martinez's job is in any danger.

12 to 14 games in the Championship...

Look at the team Moyes had though. Would he have had us down there if he had a 30 million centre forward upfront getting service from Mirallas and Barkley? In Lukaku Etoo Naismith and Kone Martinez has 4 strikers who are probably better (on paper at least) than any striker Moyes ever had except for Rooney. There is no way we should be anywhere near the bottom half of the table with the players Martinez has. Given Arsenal are stumbling we should be where Southampton are if the players played for their manager. They don't though so either they or the manager need to go.

In terms of replacements I'd just get someone who is a proven winner. Anyone up and coming is a gamble that is not guaranteed to pay off and i honestly think this group of players are not professional enough to listen to an Eddie Howe type. They need an LVG type, someone of indisputable authority to demand performances from them. He was going to go to Tottenham so coaches of that calibre are clearly interested in big jobs in the premier league.

Knowing Everton though if Martinez was replaced we'd uninspiringly go in-house along the Neville, Weir, Ferguson, Stubbs route.

if moyes was given 30 million to spend, we'd be top 3 right now

After sacking the Catalan Catastrophe, we'll clearly have to cut costs. Therefore GrandOldTeam should pick the team in the form of a series of polls after Chico's preview (which would therefore need to be written at least 3 days in advance of the match - I think I've spotted the flaw in my plan).

All these armchair internet warrior stream loving FM-types could submit their starting XI, with subs, then (after discounting anyone who names too many / too few players; picks Osman or Hibbert or Barkley, Eto'o and Naismith in the same team) the remaining 3 valid starting formations could be put up to the vote. Or most likes. Or fewest -negs.

Not sure about subs though. You could in theory do it via SMS, but that might be a bit slow. Maybe select a poster who's demonstrated the most ferocious fuming of the previous 7 days to call the shots, deliver the team talk via skype.

We couldn't do any worse to be honest. Unless Chico got the vote. He'd be too busy writing the next previews hopefully.

Do people seriously think we are going to get relegated? I'm willing to lay a wager that we won't. Loser of the bet has to have this picture as their avatar for a year. Any takers?
