Even when we've has others playing the system isn't working. Teams backed off us last year and allowed our midfield and defence far to much time to dictate play; they're pressing us this year.

For most of the season the formation has been 4-2-3-1 which is designed as a counter attacking system - where you are quite happy for the other team to have a lot of the ball and the defensive line should be deeper. Martinez philosophy is possession at all costs - this is counter intuitive and is probably the reason why other teams counter it with ease.
 


Any present prem manager could get more out of the squad than Martinez is doing. I don't see that fact changing.
Yes, in much the same way that RM got much more out of pretty much the same squad last season. Do you think any current premier managers could have got more out of the squad last season?
 
Quick check, just out of curiosity - remember all those people who were saying they would rather miss out on the Europa cup because it may impact our league form? How many of those are the same people now saying they want Martinez sacked because we are in a poor run of form?
