We went on an unbeaten 8 game run before it was stopped on the last day of November at Spurs. So that's what, 34 days ago (or 5 weeks, if you prefer)?
That is the very definition of a short term.
What we're dealing with here is mass hysteria. The flames of which are being fanned by a bunch of people who were never ever going to give a passing possession based style of football the chance to reassert itself at Everton again. They have been harbouring a grudge about the treatment their guru Moyes received after leaving Everton and they now are seizing upon a chance to unseat his successor in some merciless act of spite.
That is pretty much the whole top and bottom of this.
Sorry, but you're entrenched in a belief that it is one or the other; all Martinez or all Moyes is worse than the people you're spouting about.
It's not that simple and it is something I've remarked about in the past. Really, it suggests an entrenched or antagonising view of your own.
This isn't about disliking Martinez and loving Moyes, or being a fan of hoof football over possession football. Rather, it's about the here and now.
It is being rightfully concerned about the current situation which has fermented much longer than Spuds away, or 34 days as you prefer.
I mentioned in another thread that there have been less than a handful games we've played 'well' this season. We're a shadow of last season.
Look back at Sunderland away or Swansea at home. Each got a point, but we didn't play particularly well at all in either of the games.
Martinez got it right last season and he should rightfully be applauded for that. However, teams have adapted to our style of play this season.
We may still have the possession, but how we use the ball has become atrocious: slow tempo; lack of movement; pressed by teams.
You do not have to 'love' Moyes or wish to revert back to some archaic football to see that. He was doing well - now he's not. That's a fair view.
Mentioning the likes of Germany and Bayern is laughable. Yes they hold the ball, but they also move with pace and determination.
Equally, they close down an awful lot when they do eventually lose the ball. Can you say any of our players are doing this. No...
Unless Martinez adapts his style to our current predicament, then we could be playing his style of football in the Championship like Wigan.
I will happily applaud Martinez again, with his possession style, if we start scoring more goals than we concede. If we win more than we lose.
Both things we aren't doing... Things which are leading us towards the path of abyss.
That's pretty much the top and bottom of it.
I do not know if you're just fishing or not (I expect so), but it genuinely worries me that people may believe the stuff you are spouting.
