Who could replace Martinez ?

Exactly, very fickle.

A bit of loyalty wouldn't go amiss.
Loyalty is important, but this isn't a short term dip and to perceive it as such is just another example of a jejune opinion (not saying your point is).

Regardless of signing a new contract and people's reactions at the time, this season has been from lacklustre to poor; now we're atrocious.

People have been loyal up to now because of his success last season, so he gained some leeway. It's diminishing rapidly now though.

Our form is arguably the worst in the league. We're playing relegation football and the mood around the club from fans to players is rock bottom.

A poor run isn't the issue; a generally poor season which is getting worse and little evidence to suggest it will improve is the issue.

Martinez proved some wonderful experiences last season, but loyalty should not override the simple need to survive in the Premier League.

I'm not saying Martinez 'should' go, and I hope he turns it around. However, people are rightfully questioning him at the moment.

All I am saying is that being objective, he has very little time left regardless of how loyal you may be to him. Form is the main aspect.

We went on an unbeaten 8 game run before it was stopped on the last day of November at Spurs. So that's what, 34 days ago (or 5 weeks, if you prefer)?

That is the very definition of a short term.

What we're dealing with here is mass hysteria. The flames of which are being fanned by a bunch of people who were never ever going to give a passing possession based style of football the chance to reassert itself at Everton again. They have been harbouring a grudge about the treatment their guru Moyes received after leaving Everton and they now are seizing upon a chance to unseat his successor in some merciless act of spite.

That is pretty much the whole top and bottom of this.

That'll be why we played the best football in the PL last season, picked up all those wins and got that record points total...by playing at some point in between.

Now because some players have got a cob on with the manager a possession based game is all wrong.

No, sorry. I've seen the way forward for this club and I want it back again. If these players dont want to play they can **** off to Stoke if they like.

That underlines the style of football you like then: get it forward to pacy players asap.

It's effective, but it didn't produce the most consistent classic football style Everton produced last season. It takes something for the elite club loving media to comment about Everton's great football style last season but they did, and for good reason.

We need to get players in again who can play this game at pace. It's personnel not system that's lacking here.

To think we could lose a football manager like this one we have now through a panic decision is frightening. The future of us as a a proper football club playing a positive and progressive game hangs by a thread now. We stand on the cliff edge between the safety of attractive football and the fatal jump back to hoofball.

so you'd be happy to get relegated losing 5 - 4 every week?

Football's changed look at Munich and Germany for example, they don't play Martinez football as it's old hat nowadays

possession football is so noughties

Not great examples, tbf: Bayern regularly have more than 70% possession of the ball in the Bundesliga and the German team at the world cup dominated possession in the final: 60% of the ball against a teams like Argentina.

Don't agree with that moyes is history and if martinez goes someone new will come in.
I think people are just shocked at how this talented squad we have are on a run of 7 defeats in 9 games playing awful slow football.
Martinez is looking more lost as each game goes by and if he is letting the players dictate to him he is not the right man anyway.

I think its quite obvious that ever since the prophecy :

"Kenwrong will just give the job to one of the Finch Farm cone layers" didn't come true, a new one has had to be made :

"The players want Martinez out so they can get their cone laying mate in the job, then they'll be happy".

Which players that applies to isn't clear, nor is exactly when they decided to stop playing to get Big Unsy in. Presumably not when they were getting our highest ever points total.

if you think possession football is what won Germany the world cup and munich the CL you need to look at why you watch football buddy
