Who should replace Frank Lampard?

I hate to say it but I’m really starting to think this could be it, and that really we’ve been on this path for a while now. When we hired Frank it was already a sign that top managers weren’t coming. That situation has only worsened and if they sack Frank no one will want to touch us. Certainly not any managers with any long term career goals. The fact we are mainly linked with the likes of Moyes Martinez and Rooney says it all. It’s depressing and feels just like the late 90s to me.

Remember absolutely everybody on here turning their noses up at Howe?
Do we all feel a bit daft now?
Oh, I said it at the time. The mere suggestion of the man's name had me laughed out of town. But then again, when I mentioned Thomas Tuchel in 2013 elsewhere I was confronted with "Who?".

To be fair, I thought Benitez might actually be better than the horrific disaster his tenure turned out to be, so nobody can win them all...

Is there any reasonably credible information on how much Lampard is getting paid? Would give you a fair idea as to whether we even have the money to attempt to attract Poch/Tuchel.

It ain’t good to get worked up expecting top level managers and decent proven attackers when the financial reality is probably that we can only afford a lower league/European league prospect or out of work premier league proven dullard for manager and loans for attackers.

Of course there's no ambition at the club.

We came 16th and they changed nothing. We didnt get any improvements to the squad or a coherent football strategy put in place. We just got more drone footage of a new stadium we dont need.
This is where I think clouded judgements come into play. Opinions may vary, but I look to the Brighton game last season, which we ended up losing 2-3.

The team that started that day was: Pickford, Coleman (LB), Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, Kenny, Gordon, Doucouré, Allan, Gray and Dom.

The bench was: Digne, Begovic, Iwobi, Gomes, Gbamin, Rondon, Simms, Dobbin and Onyango. Looking at the starting line up alone, we've made progress.

For me, the issue is that we've fixed two areas and neglected another, which has actually declined due to Richarlison going and Dom becoming physically fragile.

We still have a way to go, yet if we'd have dealt with the forward element then the mood would be much brighter; I still think it's fixable, if we act soon.

We have a front line which is only capable of scoring enough goals if a constantly injured player suddenly gets fit and hits form

Thats a gamble we couldn't afford to take. And I said it all summer that we would be big candidates for relegation with these attackers. It was painfully obvious and the proof is in the pudding.

Unless we sign 2 goalscorers then we are toast.

The decision to prioritise defence over attack shows our archaic mindset. We are an anachronism of the modern game. Everyone else is in 2022 and we are in 2002. You cannot survive in this league if you cannot score goals and completely neglect your attacking options.

Our summer strategy was a total failure. Heads need to roll.

Tommy Tuchel for me, ticks the boxes

Is available
Good CV
Tactically sound
Has been interested in the job previous

I swear he’s mentioned that he’s watched us at Goodison a few times when he was younger as well unless I’m getting mixed up with somebody else.

But anyway, the outstanding candidate of who is available. Would be as impactful as the Ancelotti appointment imo
I agree someone like Tuchel should be no.1, we should have been speaking to his representatives since the Bournemouth games....

I`m torn as to what is the best way to go... do we go :-

Displinarian - Moyes, Dyche type
Attacking - Postecoglou
Energy and work rate - Bielsa

I think all could do a job but I think Tuchel just has more about him, could we get him IDK, but you have to go for the best and then work your way down the list.

I don't disagree about the failure to strengthen the front line, however let's not forget that last year's major issues were a terrible defence and a woeful midfield.

We've partially dealt with that, but in doing so neglected the front line. Failing to do the latter, doesn't mean we weren't correct to address the former.

If we'd have thrown all our money on forwards, we'd have had a leaky defence and a midfield like Swiss cheese, which means we'd be in trouble like last year.

In reality, we need to find a balance - if we fix the front line, we may go some way to do doing that.

Position we are in now, if FL got binned, I would want us to advertise the job with the 20th best Manager Salary in the league.

Those that apply want it for the right reasons.

Apart from one ?‍♂️, and yes I do remember the dogs abuse I got for suggesting such a guy that had been relegated with Bournemouth...

The same when I suggested Maupay is absolute ? when he signed...

And I pointed out all the failings of Frank Lampard last season, a better manager would have had us safe much earlier...

See a pattern? ?‍♂️
