Who should replace Frank Lampard?

Southampton manager is rumoured to be getting the boot this weekend. If we want first dibs on a new manager we might need to act soon.

Need to act when hurtling towards the championship. Of course we’ll lark about and wait until after another couple of games go by.

There’s no chance we sack Lampard, all his staff & then spend further money to get a manager out of a contract somewhere else.

We’re absolutely goosed so it’ll be a manager without a club, ready to go. It’s only going to be out of Dyche & Martinez. Might see a few links and rumours here and there but that’ll be to try and appease people.

The manager search like our player recruitment doesn't stretch beyond "names" and known quantities. They never appoint someone who fits the long term identity(whatever it is) regardless of their name because they have no imagination or pre planning, so of that bunch Dyche is the choice for me because he would fight to keep us up.
To be fair, it’s a small group of people capable of managing at this level. This is even if they are successful elsewhere.

Let’s make history ;)

It will be Dyche 100%

The thing is, I would trust almost any manager, Lampard included, to keep us up if the board gave him £30m to spend this January and it was spent wisely. But the manager will be working with Kevin Thelwell, and the chances of the money being spent wisely is slim to none.

The reason why I would prefer a new manager is due to Lampard's mistakes. His mistakes in covering for the board last summer and not being strong enough publicly in demanding a striker. It was all "everybody knows what we need", "we are looking to strengthen", "we're looking to improve the squad", and not "we must bring in a striker to avoid another relegation battle". Ultimate yes man prepared to take the heat instead of demanding change like most big managers would. Would Klopp, Conte, Ten Hag, Guardiola et al keep their mouths closed the way Lampard did?

Then it's his tactics, the switching from 4-3-3 to 5-3-2-1 to whatever else he tries. The dithering with substitutes - Cannon and Simms respectively kept warming up for tens of minutes in previous games before being brought on, when there were no signs of improvement amongst those already on the pitch.

Alongside that it's clear he doesn't have an eye for a player when it comes to transfers. McNeil and Maupay were not forced upon him. He brought in Dele Alli apparently based on a chat with his uncle. He knew finances were ultra right and agreed on almost £50m going on Onana and Garner. He knew we needed (better) attacking players, actually spent the Richarlison money plus an extra £40-odd million, and took us massively backwards.

So he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt for me. Lampard must go, and somebody else must be brought in, even if it's simply to avoid the in-game mistakes he's constantly been making. Whether it's Martinez, Dyche or somebody from abroad, I would favour almost anybody over Lampard at this stage.

As bad as we are he still grabbed a job he had no credentials for and here he is making a dogs dinner of it. He’s laughing all the way to the bank the nodding dog Tory.

I know we are, but I don't think you can allow a manager that has made as many costly mistakes as Lampard the chance to continue and be the one to take us down.

The fans have almost accepted relegation, the media and general football world thinks we are going down, so a new manager brought in now can be tasked with bringing us back up, and if he can save us in the process then all the better.

Post selling Richarlison, if you had told me we'd be able to reinvest that money plus another £40m, I'd have thought we'd be capable of an easy top half finish such is the dross in this division, yet Lampard and Thelwell have combined to virtually relegate us.
