He can't live off past achievements, when he's woeful now.
Woeful's a bit harsh. He should be doing better. The players should be doing better, but how much better can we realistically expect with our squad ? If we had a striker who was capable of busting a gut to get onto the end of a cross we'd probably have scored five or six more goals than we have this season and might have three or four more points ?

But we have Saha and Cahill - legs on the way out. Vellios - not really ready for 90 mins yet. Denis - willing but may or may not be premiership standard - probably not. McAleny - a promising kid.

Edit : Oh, and Vic too.

So, we can blame Moyes for getting our strikers back defending everything so Saha and Cahills aging legs can't up get quick enough and we can lay some of the blame with him for not being able to motivate the Yak and so let him go ( but that was six of one and half a dozen of the other ). We can also blame him for letting Beckford go and reducing our options because he didn't fit the Moyes mould, but was Beckford really Premiership class ? tbh - apart from letting Beckford go, I'm not sure there's a whole lot he could do differently on the striking front. With a few exceptions, we've been making chances / half-chances in games, but not getting a decent shot on target.

What I would say is that, unless he's sure that some investment is going to be forthcoming, then, if he's got any balls, he should be looking for another job which would give him a chance to test himself somewhere and have some success rather than settling for mediocrity. Sooner or later, I suspect he'll walk because he'll get fed up of not having the funds.

Damon slingin some classic banter in this thread.

How can people compare the squad Martinez has to the one Moyes has.

To answer the question, I'd go for Ancellotti, or Emery.

Proven, talented and perfect for Everton.

Whether they would be interested..

You don't know until the position becomes available who will apply :) That's why the whole "who would you replace him with" arguement is a complete waste of time in my opinion. You just don't know! Contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on these days.

Also a waste of time as Moyes isn't going anywhere.

would another manager who may take the job with the same resources get us to finish any higher than seventh.

I'm not a huge Pardew fan, but he's only had a small proportion of the money from the sale of Carroll, Nolan, Barton and Enrique to spend and they're doing alright.

I'd be very concerned for us if Moyes left. He has his flaws, but he somehow manages to get us at the right end of the table each year. I just wish that he'd learn from experience, rather than repeating the same mistakes. If Round ever left and we could get an Assistant Manager in of the calibre of Steve Clarke, I think that could really push us forward.

I think Moyes is playing a blinder, devaluing the club by not playing his best available players. It's forcing Kenright's hand, he sells now or risks losing money down the line.

Just my take on it.
