Is it too soon to be looking at Rooney? It's inevitable that Man Utd would look at him in some capacity soon enough. Has he shown enough to be ready for Everton?
Not going to pull the fun trick of putting Italian or Portuguese spin on his name and saying we’d have him then. But anyone by another name who was doing the job he’s doing at Derby with those constraints, he’d be worth considering.

I have also lived on the South coast mate and attended a good few games at Brighton in the mid 70s and to be honest there fans are not anything like as passionate as ours. That response would not go well at our place
What do you expect him to say though. Half our fans are still stuck watching a VHS of the holy trinity on loop, sitting in the pub banging on about the 80's team, they live in a time warp and they can't cope with the fact the game has moved on and changed in the last 10 years or so. Far too many armchair experts these days who think that having a ST for a few years gives them the knowledge to run an actual team/club.

Potter has earned his stripes. His team is well organised, but play progressive footie with flair. He’d be first choice for me.
a Rooney or a lampard would be a gamble but both have shown potential and hunger and a willingness to promote youth. They also have decent contacts which might be useful for getting quality loans while we sort out ffp

From the bloke who's done nothing but cry and insult our current millionaire Champions League Winning manager :coffee:
For his performance at the club I love and support. You are here, attacking Rooney and Lampard for absolutely zero reason.

I am an Evertonian, you are a second rate internet WUM using Dave’s sound bites as you aren’t even bright enough to make up your own and he is the forum laughing stock, so I’m afraid only one of us is constantly ridiculed on here and it ain’t me old chap lol

He’s developed a nice balance Potter, they are good offensively but also have a really good defensive record now aswell

Yeah as Wayne Rooney was such a great Evertonian and role model.

Saying Rooney is a neutral topic for Evertonians suggests to me you haven't supported Everton for very long.

Personally would be disappointed if we ended up with a generic bum like Lampard/Rooney.

If Benitez goes it has to be Potter coming in.

Why recommend someone who you called 'abysmal' and the 'English Martinez'?

To be fair, I'd have Potter right now as I've said only recently. Equally, for transparency, I've also stated that as a caveat I'd say he's not the ideal choice.

Personally, I feel that slowly but surely he's starting to show an improvements as a manager and on the balance of things would be better than Benitez.

But anyway... my query was because I'm unsure why someone would recommend Potter after so vehemently criticising them over the last few years.

If your opinion of him has changed, that's fine.

He's the best of an average bunch who we could attract ultimately.

Anyone thinking he would win us a trophy / qualify for europe are naive.

Likewise anyone thinking our fans wont leg him the second we hit a rocky patch are also naive.
