The problem is we take a manager like that, they have a premier league win rate of 28%. Similar to Marco Silvas at Watford, Roberto Martinez at Wigan. We would be playing attractive football and excellent XG and winning about 12 or 13 games a season, mid table ( we won 13 games last year and finished 12th)

My point is these guys get “bigged up” at these teams because the expectation is low. We are in the situation where, as an established premier league team, the expectation is higher. So these guys are really set up to fail. Silva and Martinez both had higher win rates at Everton than their previous clubs, but got sacked. I don’t think Potter would be any different
I agree to an extent. Potter has actually built a team and taken it on an upwards trajectory. If you look at his time at Ostersund he took them from the 4th division to the 1st and won a cup.

His win ratio has only dropped at Brighton, at Ostersund and Swansea it was 40%-50%.

If his name was Gramario Potterio everyone on the forum would be all over him.

We’ve played 5 defenders at home and conceded 3. What’s next, 6 defenders?
He’s playing so defensive to stop the conceding we’ve forgot how to attack and win games.
We need to get better at the basics. Press, cover and balance. We need to get better at compressing space, and we need to get rid of personal mistakes (concentration). We are the team with the most personal mistakes that lead to goals.

I have long argued that Potter would be excellent for us. There is little doubt that he is a very good manager. However, he should have been hired after Ancelotti left for Madrid, and is most likely not relevant until the summer again.

I would take Potter apart from the elephant in the room( no I don't mean Benny boy).
He can't take critism, our best 2 managers in my life time Catterick and Kendall had to take dogs abuse at times so I am not sure Potter has the mental toughness to ride out the bad times.

People keep saying this but it's absolute BS tbh, I live down on the south coast and that last time the fans booed at one of subs he made in a game, a few days later in one of the locals when asked about it he hit back and said if any fan thinks they can do better then feel free and they don't have to watch if they don't want too.

I have also lived on the South coast mate and attended a good few games at Brighton in the mid 70s and to be honest there fans are not anything like as passionate as ours. That response would not go well at our place
