Would it?

I can't see how it could. He can get wins especially at home at least.

….i agree there might be a bounce for a game or two but he wouldn’t be for me.

in our precarious position, appointing a temporary manager would be nonsense. If you think he’s good enough, then surely you’d want him permanently.

Huge risk factor giving somebody the job who has sat alongside a procession of failures. He’s part of the scenery & I doubt his worth as a coach. We certainly need somebody new, somebody fresh. I’d genuinely fear for us if Ferguson is appointed.

i’m fairly ambivalent to who it should be but I’m very certain who it shouldn’t be. Please let it not be Ferguson.

If Dunc is up for I would give it to him. The job would mean the world to him and he would give it everything, get some good people around him and let him coach and man manage.

Hes shown he can make awkward decisions by dropping players and even taking Kean off when he had been subbed on. These arent easy decisions to make.

Hes served his apprenticeship under plenty of different types of manager and has hopefully picked up elements from all.

Im bored of the foreign next big thing, Im bored of the big name, Im bored of old dinosaurs set in their way managers. Lets give it to Dunc, get some proper football people around him and lets go.
Have we ever had a “foreign next big thing”?

I suppose maybe Koeman at a push, but even he came from the PL

I’ve wanted Dunc for a while but funnilyvenough that Keane episode actually put me off him a bit. Yes he showed he’s brave with decisions but I sought if took that as him being a bit scatty about it if you know what I mean. Anyway I’d be happy if it was him. The passion would return and we ours be united and get behind the team. Something to believe in again.

Who do you suggest that fits those parameters though? Someone with a long term vision who could ALSO implement something fast to get us out of the brown stuff.

We need someone to foster a good dressing room, team spirit and have players wanting to fight for him. Thats exactly what Rooney has now.

Will it work here? No idea. But there isnt a guarantee Kovac, Galtier, Fonseca etc would either. Every manager is a gamble.

We need a stroke of luck with the next one.
Yes indeed. As well as good judgement, we do need a bit of luck. It seems we haven't had that in ages. Hard to know what type of character can succeed in these conditions.

These players to me seem like a bunch of kids, they need discipline and someone who is going to call out poor performance whilst at the same time cultivating respect and rewarding hard work. You have to have the required gravitas.

I don't believe any of our recent managers with the exception of Martinez have cared enough about doing well for themselves personally and for the club either. It's a pre-requisite, but not enough on its own.

I think it's wrong to look at managers who mostly have experience with clubs where the goal is to survive (Dyche), or managers who have mostly been in clubs that mostly win (Ancelotti types). We need a manager who has been able to develop his teams, and changed a culture and way of thinking.

To me, Potter is the obvious first choice. He's done it in all the clubs he's been to. At the same time, he has relevant experience in PL. Candidates like Gallardo, etc., are exciting, but there are big cultural differences and level differences between the PL and the Argentine league. Potter also plays a "modern" type of football. To me, Potter is the obvious choice, but the question is whether he himself is interested.

Just read that Bilic could be in the running. No.....no......And thrice no.
Bilic........God help us.
Look, nobody knows who our next manager will be. Or how things will turn out for a new manager ( assuming now that Benetiz will be gone). But surely no one could be any worse. Geez , a team with no bloody manager would have picked up more points than we have recently.

So once again......it's Rooney and Ferguson for me.
But certain players now also need to go. It's always the same underperforming useless players involved in these awful results.
Surely to God Rooney and especially Ferguson would know who these players are.
I can name six ,seven or eight that I want rid off. And a few were playing yesterday. Surely Duncan Ferguson knows who needs booted out.
We always say that we need rid of the deadwood. But we never do get rid. Some actually playing yesterday. And our better youngsters not even on the bench.
So whoever does come in as manager. Get properly shot of the deadwood. Drop them until their contracts run out if necessary.
Play a few youngsters. Bring on board your own players.
Then we might have a team. Maybe. Who knows.
So once again........Up the Toffees. Our useless wee Toffees.I
Ps....I admit that at one time I thought that Benetiz would sweep the deadwod all out with a very big brush. But he decided to use that brush on James ( could have done a job from the bench imo). And Digne.
And brings on board Rondon.
Kudas for bringing in Gray and Townsend. But playing Rondon. And sticking with Coleman and Keane. And not changing anything.
Goodbye mr. Benetiz.
Next please........And good luck. You are going to need it.

I wonder how many would have been wetting the bed with the announcement of unproven and inexperienced Moyes coming from Preston
Moyes changed the tone even before a ball was kicked. There was an almost imnediate sense that things had changed for the better. In my recall any concerns about whether or not he was good enough dissipated very quickly. He had Gazza and Ginola at the training ground. That's how bad things were.

We need someone who can come in and make an impact like that.

Who do you suggest that fits those parameters though? Someone with a long term vision who could ALSO implement something fast to get us out of the brown stuff.

….certainly need to have an immediate impact. I’m reluctant going back to the same old managerial merry-go-round, we want somebody young & progressive.

Ferguson is a definite no, no. Much too romantic for me, nothing to suggest he’s a decent manager.
