Time to put the sword back in the scabbard for now.

Any sort of scruffy couple of results in the next few weeks gets Benitez to January and from there a few more weeks at least after that.

He's firmly in the box seat and not threatened with any immediate dismissal, but this run cant continue for weeks without any returns.

It all comes down to the next results.

He's a game or two from the sack but a win tomorrow buys him a few weeks at least. A bad defeat and he's either gone in the morning or another defeat away.

Our fixtures turn after the Leicester game. I can imagine him being in post until then. If he were to be sacked then, his replacement would have a gentler run of games.

It's looking like overlooking Moyes before his second stint at West ham was the wrong move. Especially if we are moving forward without a DoF. He'd be perfect for this now and his showing at West Ham is proving he wasn't past it.

Possibly.

That's mightily close to January though and you'd wonder why Moshiri would sack him at that stage when he said he needs to be backed to buy players.

Benitez needs at least 1 win in the next 4, i.e. pre Christmas. And he needs something from the next 2, at least 1 point.

If we get to win 1 win in 15 that is totally untenable and no one can argue otherwise. We need points ASAP.
