Who's the best band you've seen live?

Countless bands, some multiple times. It’s hard to choose but I’d go with Iron Maiden just for the all round experience with the stage show and dramatics etc.

For musicianship and endurance it’s Springsteen.
I got onstage with Maiden after my metal band tried to get a support slot with them. We didn’t get the gig but got some free tickets and back stage passes, did the whole Heaven Can Wait singalong bit. Great fun. Nicko McBrain was the nicest bloke.

Saxon
The Garage ,Glasgow.
Iron Maiden AECC
Adam Lambert and Queen, Hydro
Rod Stewart, Elton John pittodrie..different dates.
Wow Saxon. They were the subject of the best music review I ever read. Think it was in Kerrang and the song was the band’s anthem to motor bikes. The review simply read ‘somewhere out there is a song about motorcycles called Good In Traffic, Crap In Rain. Saxon’s isn’t. It’s called Wheels of Steel.’

I saw Metallica, Megadeth, The Almighty and Diamondhead there in ‘95 and the sound was appalling. Very disappointing.
My first ever gig that - The Almighty replaced Alice in Chains who were originally booked, I was absolutely gutted at the time

Tough to say who's the best band live - depends on so many factors (depth of back catalogue, performance, setlist choices, venue etc)

Springsteen is incredible whenever i've seen him, Peter Gabriel is wonderful live - but i'll give a couple of smaller bands their due

Shearwater at the Deaf Institute - A wonderful, underrated band and his incredible voice sounds perfect live

Kyuss in Stoke back in 1995 - A bizarre choice of town and venue for a band that only played a handful of times in the U.K. I was obsessed at the time, and seeing them up close (and incredibly loudly) was a memory i'll always cherish - Plus we got to hang out with them backstage for an hour afterwards - at least I can always tell people that I had a beer with Josh Homme!

Most memorable - the Oysterband at Gloucester Guild hall .... such a good banging vibe, sprung floor and hit resonance - one of the few times I have found the muse and "danced" (aka cleared a hefty radius around me with flailing arms and legs).

Musically - a Show of Hands - a terrific combination of lyrics, multi-instrumentalists, atmosphere and skill.

Best band - Jethro Tull - just phenomenal

Most ruined - Levellers - superb music but their sound engineer, Mutton Geoff always ruins it.

Most inclined to throw my undies on a stage - Heather Nova .... hummana!

Missed out - I'm sure Pink Floyd would be the far away winner if I'd wver got to see them. Sigh.

I saw Charli xcx tonight and it might be the most fun I've ever had at a gig, she is untouchable. It's like a warehouse party to 20k people, all on her own

Other than that, my bloody valentine, Slowdive and Swans. DIIV for newer stuff. Julia holter too
So no backing group or dancers for the whole show? I knew she was mega confident but that's ballsy. How did she even take a break?. get behind her deck every now and then?

Can't say it was the best live performance but the best gig I ever went to was The Stone Roses at the Etihad about 8 years ago.

Ian Brown famously Can't sing live but it didn't matter as you couldn't hear him over the whole crowd singing as one anyway.

Electric atmosphere and a special day.
