Why we dont 'need' investment

do not let our current form blind anybody to the fact that we desperately need investment Moyes has proved wheat he can do with a little bit of money imagine if he had been able to spend over the last few years without selling.

The thread should have ended on the first page.

No investment - Going backwards.
Investment which is spent wisely on promising players/established players - Going forwards.
Investment on crap which Villa have done - Just no.

The reason Villa are like that is because they spunk a **** load on average players. Darren Bent cost around £24 million and we have Jelavic who cost a snippet of that and is better in my opinion. They overspend on English players who's value is high. We however only spend fairly low amounts on English talent, unless we produce it ourselves. Our big money signings are usually foreigners and you can see with people like Fellaini and Jelavic why that is wiser.

If we keep signing people like that, and with Mirallas who showed some nice movement yesterday, we are well on our way to competing for European places consistently and pushing on even further.

We need investment, every club does.
This. Villa with Lerner is heading for the same level of futility that Lerner and his crew have brought to Cleveland. They probably deserve better, but so does Cleveland, where dreams go to die. MON is a pretty knowledgeable football guy, and when he caught the hint of where this would go, he bugged out as fast as his feet would take him.

What hasn't been said, and what needs to be said, is that it wouldn't take a Citeh-like money spunk to do the job. A canny scot can stretch a penny, and we've seen the evidence right before our eyes. Without getting over the hurdle of the stadium upgrades needed, maybe we've just been through the worst of it last year, and we can keep the ball rolling through this and the next window, finish top four, and maybe even bring a smile to Dave's quince-like demeanor. After all, life is filled with possibilities. Some of them are even good. We've just been through a fiscal drought that would have collapsed many regimes. It wasn't fun, but that which does not kill us makes us stronger, eh? The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

well said

To suggest that we don't need investment is ridiculous.
We do not need to spend huge amounts to get a team capable of regularly challenging the top 4 .
£25 million would do it - that's chicken feed to some ( Tony Fernandes , Mittal family etc ) and that's the really frustrating thing.
However we also need a new stadium !!

I heard a rumour when I was over for the opening that Nike has told the club they would be interested to go in with a huge chunk of dough to shorten our debt, rebuild Goodison and insure Moyes with a healthy transfer kitty. They were even willing to lett Bill stay as chairman. The same people also said that Owen had signed so it was obviously just bollocks :(

Sounds too good to be true and when it sounds it it is

Do we need investment yes... We need a proper business plan or a multi billionaire who loves Everton( I don't know of any). The problem i have with the current board is that they seem to be running the club from day to day with no business plan. We need to re develop Goodison Park. We do not have money for a new stadium and no one is going to lend the money to us. First thing IMO we need to do is sell the naming rights to Goodison to raise much needed funding to start this re development. Also the board would need to make sure the redevelopment has no negative effect on the team. Arsenal got 100m for naming rights in 2004 for the emirates. I believe today we could easily get that money. 70m of that could be used on the stadium and the remainder to make up for any lost revenue/ expenses during the redevelopment.

You're on another world if you think we'd get £100m for naming rights.

As for investment we need it on the stadium, I can live with selling high and buying cheap on the squad for now, but without investment for a stadium and improved match day takings its going to be like this forever and we wont get anywhere in the long run. The problem is, it would take a potential investor years to make their money back on a new stadium or upgrading GP and its not risk free. So basically an investor would be taking a high risk and having to wait years for only minimal profits, they might become inpatient and sell players to make their money back. I just cant see that happening, our only hope I'm afraid is a city/ chelsea type takeover and those are few and far between.
