Wildlife in your Garden

Look, the fluff from the vacumn, ideal for birds nests.

How sad am I?
40 years back I was more concerned with the contents of a young blokes underpants, now I'm getting a thrill of the contents of an old blokes vacumn 😔 😟 🙁

Not good Sue.
That will just disintigrate if it comes into contact with even the least drop of water. Tumble dryer lint is no good either for the same reason.

It is good to know that you are caring for our feathered friends, Sue. I'm not sure about vacuum fluff but we leave the mounds that we get from our German Shepherds out - though you need to mindful with dof hair if you treat your dog chemically for fleas or the like, which we do not.

Just witnessed something I have never seen before.
I noticed something tumbling and flapping about in the garden. At first I thought it was an injured bird but It turned out to be two wrens. They appeared to have their claws locked together and were really going at each other. I was beginning to wonder if they were actually somehow stuck together and unable to free themselves but eventually (after about 2 minutes) one broke free and flew off chased by the other. Obviously it must have been a battle over territory.
Just had a read about them and apparently they sometimes fight to the death. I found this vid on youtube which shows pretty much exactly what I just saw.

….i think they have a reputation for being fiesty.

…..son has a problem with rats in his garden and has set a few traps. I was there to take my 5 year old granddaughter to school early yesterday and a squirrel had its head caught in a trap. It was going berserk, doing somersaults trying to free itself. I managed to release it and it scarpered off, my good deed for the day.

Watching the winner (presumably) building a nest low down in the ivy today.
