Very often it's when blue sky and clouds are reflecting off the glass. Obviously the bird can't see the glass, just the reflection.I was actually meaning, why do they fly into windows? But we'll explained mate?

‘I feel I’ve made a mark’: the man who built homes for 60,000 swifts
Retired salesman John Stimpson was so moved by the cries of birds unable to find nests, he decided to act. Now he has made enough boxes to house half the UK’s swiftswww.theguardian.com
Great story. I hope that if I can ever retire I will still be active in something like this.
Yeah incredible legacy. Got a bit emotional reading it.I hope this fella gets recognised for what he`s done.
Just goes to show the impact one man can make.

What a great story. That’s right, we should never underestimate the impact any of us can make to improve our world. Very admirable of him for wanting to make a difference!I hope this fella gets recognised for what he`s done.

Yes we get that quite often with birds smacking into the window with a sparrowhawk in hot pursuit. Usually it's a pigeon but sometimes young starlings. Pigeons sometimes do it when chasing each other as well. All bar one have flown away apparently unscathed.Usually because something has panicked them and they just fly the way they are facing in blind panic.
You can get little outlines of birds, to stick on the likes of patio windows, which is supposed to help them realise that a big window is there !
Happens all the time at my mum and dads, when the Sparrow Hawk swoops in and tries to pluck the birds off the feeder in mid flight.
Over the garden yesterday what I thought was a hawk chasing a Herring gull but it turned out to be a Ring Necked parakeet , took this photo about 6 weeks ago . (Wirral)
I believe there are thousands in London .
