Transfer Rumour Wilifred Gnonto

Doubt that it will be any form of competition for his signature.

His price tag alone makes sure teams outside of Premier League will stay away.

Villa get Zaniolo on loan with option to buy for what Gnonto will cost. The 50 million they paid for Diaby looks like a steal compared to Gnonto's price. And they already had Leon Bailey that had a much better season than Gnonto.

Gnonto won't improve West Ham and based on the reports this summer, it is the kind of deal their new German DoF will stay away from.

Market price for Gnonto is probably 12-15 million. If he was available for that, other and more attractive clubs would have shown interest. Gnonto for 25 million is a massive gamble. The sort of gamble most clubs won't take.

I don't think he is a gamble. He's a exciting and raw talent who looks a better prospect than Anthony Gordon is for less. The gamble would've been to get him at £4mill (which is what we should've been doing) and hoping he adapts to the league.

He's 19 year old. The clubs I've mentioned were just random examples of the top of my head to justify what I think leeds are doing.

And as for those 2 players mentioned...they're 24 years old. Diaby at 24 going for £50mill you say. Just think if Gnonto takes flight the £25mill will be worth double in 4 years time.

Why are hardly any clubs in for this raw and exciting talent? Hundreds of clubs knew everything about him when he played in Switzerland. Still he ended being sold for a low fee.

He was good in moments last season, but he was often really bad. If Leeds fans were to rate their players from last season, where would he end up? For sure not top 5.

Compare with Johan Bakayoko that we were linked with this week. Same age as Gnonto and I probably similarly priced. He is linked everywhere. Firm interest from Napoli. The player Liverpool supposedly have chosen to one day replace Salah. Links to PSG. Different levels. When it comes to interest, ability and potential.

If Gnonto was 26 we'd all be moaning if Everton paid 10 million for him. Yes, there is a potential upside with buying and develop young players, but Everton has a manager that has shown no will to play and develop young players for the better part of a decade. Typical Sean Dyche would be to pay silly money for Gnonto and bench him for Ashley Young.

Think 12 months back. The excitement we had for Nathan Patterson. Because how much he had improved. Being coached by Baines and Ashley Cole and being the best right back Everton have had for years. In comes Dyche, preferring Coleman and Patterson has regressed massively. Such a shame. But this is what Dyche does...

Patterson spent loads of time injured last season, thats why he hasnt progressed, nothing to do with Dyche.

There are better footballers, for lower transfer fees, that actually fill positional needs within our squad. I hope we do not move forward with this transfer.

It has everything to do with Dyche.

Dyche plays with a very narrow back four. Pretty much all defendig that is traditionally done by full backs are left to the wide midfielders. Dyche want full backs that are built as and position themselves as central defenders. Dyche have never trusted Patterson to do that job.

Matches last season we saw Coleman defending inside the box while Iwobi was left wide to stop crosses. That changed when Patterson played. Patterson stayed wide and Iwobi dropped in as an extra defender next to Michael Keane. The entire set-up changed because there is no room for a modern offensive minded full back in a Dyche team. Surprised he hasn't signed Eric Pieters yet, but there is still time before the transfer window shuts.

We dont have a modern offensive minded full back.

We have Ashley Young who at 38 isnt getting up and down.
Myko, who thinks the word attack is a swear word.
Coleman who at 34 isnt getting up and down.
And Patterson, who also seems to struggle with the word crossing.

Ive said repeatedly, our fullbacks are a major issue, they offer us nothing going forward and are prone to mistakes.

When you set up the team with a low block and are happy with having less than 30% possession as favorites at home, it will always be more important what the full backs does the 90% of the match they spend on their own half.

Another week, more points dropped, asif there was no urgency to get a ready to go striker. The shambles at finch farm, millions and millions of investment has produced one average player ….in Gordon. Its like a hamster wheel of incompetence. We need a STRIKER or we will be so far off points by chrimbo. Appalling

Just cos someone is "linked" doesn't mean they're interested especially when 90% of stories are drummed up by agents to get their clients moves.

And it's also a contradiction. We're linked to Bakayoko yet he's also linked to PSG, Liverpool, Napoli - in real terms we have zero hells chance of getting him if that were the case.

As for Gnonto interest...just Google who's been linked. Villa, Roma, Juve, Napoli - there's big "interest" for him to go back to serie A. The only difference is... we've put a bid in.

The lad has a huge upside and I like him.

As for saying Dyche doesn't develop...the majority of people him and Thelwell are bringing in are under 25. He's got Garner, Onana, Chermitti, Patterson, Branthwaite, and possibly Gnonto as key parts of the squad. If he was gonna be bringing these dinosaur players in to fit his dinosaur tactics (as you clearly elude to) he'd have done it by now and no waster £25mill on a 19 year old

Always annoying when better teams bid for players because the season's started and one of their players has become injured. Makes you feel like everything should have been sorted so much sooner.
Best teams get the best players early and then fish in the middle section when there are injuries. leaving the likes of us, scrapping around on deadline day for the [Poor language removed] nobody wants.
