Great when a whole bunch of players have good games: James, Iwobi, Digne and Keane. With Mina, Doucoure, Godfrey close behind.

A little bit of a smash and grab but Wolves are a strange team with no real threat in the final third...for obvious reasons.

Very close between Digne and Keane for my motm. Gone for Digne.

We still lose the ball far too often between the penalty area and the halfway line, (Doucoure, Davies), better teams will punish us.

I think the defence has generally been excellent since it was forced upon Carlo when Seamus and Luca were out.

Yerri and Keane have been excellent, Holgate has been steady, and Godfrey has been a superstar. For him to come into the side, first at right back where he initially struggled, then centre back and then fully out of position at left back where he has actually excelled, has been brilliant. Carlo's faith was displayed by Digne playing not left back but left wing yesterday as to keep Ben in the side!

Doucouré has by and large been excellent recently, almost single-handedly dragging us through in the cup, and we've just about scraped by using Gomes and Davies. That cross from André yesterday, not for the first time on his left foot either, was as good a cross as you'll see.

Iwobi is much improved, and such a joy to see an end product last night. He started the move yet months ago would not have continued that run into the middle to keep involved in the move. He got his reward with the goal, and a lovely effort it was too.

Once Allan, Richarlison and DCL are all fully fit, alongside James, we have every right to be optimistic for the rest of the season.

Carlo is a magician!

We'd had plenty of awful results away from home under Moyes though. Occasionally there would be an excellent performance in there. (Wolves away ironically with 3 excellent goals). The fact CA wins more away games than any of them according to this; (they haven't included Moyes). He just, understandably as he is a born winner with his record, has a great way of setting up the team to do a particular job. He'd have known it wasn't going to be pretty yesterday but ultimately the job got done. In comparison, did we ever go away under Moyes with any real confidence that there was a clear, well drilled plan to get a result? Moyes has admitted he'd gone to many players to 'get a point or get out alive'. I know you were not suggesting Moyes is anywhere near Carlo by the way, Just pointing out that CA has done this many times already (he is not perfect, but our players aren't so it wont work as often as it could) and clearly has the nouse for it. I dont really believe Moyes did.

Moyes to his credit had an excellent home record which amplified how bad we were regularly away, CA has managed to knock that barrier down, if we can find some home form and not drop silly points to Leeds, WHU we could really push for something this season. Also believe we'd need some reinforcements and I dont think that will happen.

lol at Koeman and Silva's record.

Every team in the top 6/8 are probably saying this. Yes it’s annoying but it’s a very strange season. Spuds lost 4 points with the last kick in two games is a classic example.
Exactly. While we've missed some points in games you'd expect us to win, there have been many more occasions where we've won largely against the odds. As far as I'm concerned it can continue this way!

An an evertonian I can’t help but do this but if we had beat Newcastle, Leeds and West Ham and glyfi scored that last minute chance against Burnley to win us the game then we would be on 43 points and 7 points ahead of Man Utd

I know it’s all swing and roundabouts because we have achieved some unpredictable results in our favour like beating Leicester away and Chelsea at home etc

It’s still mad though to think that could have happened despite all the injuries and richarlisons lack of form and the fact that we haven’t even played amazing football we have just been grinding out wins

Very unexpected result given the players absent. Although I voted Keane MoM, the whole team need to be praised for he result. We certainly showed some steel and our defence was excellent. Having said that Wolves gave it a good go and played well.

Well done Carlo for the team selected and the tactics.
