We still created more chances with 10 men than we did in majority of our games under Fat Sam. We kept attacking and were always looking to get forward. Only for a poor final ball by Coleman to Niasse we should have come away with the win. I'm feeling more positive about our season after that match.

We definitely would've caved after the red & equaliser in other seasons.

*footnote - who comes onto these forums from other clubs??? Like how much time do you have on your hands? Unemployed, bored or just weird?

Studs up and showing going through jotas ankle to get the ball is a red card . Think a few on here need to go back to spec savers . It was a rash lunge by jags who tried to correct his own mistake but failed miserably. Danny bath got sent off for us last season with the exact type of foul , and I for one had no complaints or issue with the decision .

As far as the delusional minority evertonians still saying this is the 2nd string we played , what actually makes you think Mina and Zouma are going to improve Everton’s back line so drastically and work better as a cohesive unit . This the same Mina that let in 4 goals past him last season against the mighty levante while playing for barca ? Or is it the fact that if he was good enough to sit on Barca’s bench for most games last season then that makes him something special . Won’t even get started on Zouma ! Guess it’s honures even for now and Look forward to seeing you all at Goodison where apparently according to some we get smashed by the mighty Scouse Barcelona Z team, until then I’m out and good luck :)

Utd & Lyon both wanted Mina, Barcelona insisted on a 60m buyback clause, but you know better I guess

richarlison actually walked up to the place of the foul to show the ref baines and another player told the ref as well but we are to nice as a team
Wrong, we don't make the decision where to place the ball, the referee does that, Everton players were telling the ref that it needed moving back at least 5 yards and the referee laughed at them.
Nothing to do with being too nice.

Seeing what Neves is capable of, i don't think moving it forward made any difference. If anything it made it more difficult for him to get it up and over the wall and into the back of the net. He just strikes the ball so well.

I think we have seen an increase in reds even last season. You just cant tackle with any force anymore, you cant remotely raise your studs.

5 yards further back gives Pickford more time to react and changes the freekick entirely. Watch the tackle, he stretches for it, feet along the ground. Yes you can see his studs but in a slide tackle you have to be able to. He gets the ball and that’s when his foot comes up, off the ball. He didn’t fly in with his feet off the ground.

Wolves fans chatting utter rubbish lol! Thought they were very average yesterday. Didn’t really create much apart from the goals. I thought we were comfortable even with 10 men, yes they had their times in the game but that happens every match. We would have scored more. Messed up so many chances with a simple pass for a run on goal. Think it happened 3 times. We deserved to win that game and would have if it wasn’t for the ref. If we were average like some of them are saying then they should be worried about staying up this season.

But the fact you're intentionally ignoring is that many, many tackles like that will happen every week in the PL this season and won't be given as reds. That's because it isn't one and it wasn't one when you had one go against you last season either.

I suppose then if Sigurdsson/Baines steps up and puts one top bin from 20 yards in the last second, that should have been from 25 and wins us the game, you'd have been absolutely fine with that because he's a good set-piece specialist?

I'm not ignoring anything, but if they arent given every time thats down to inconsistent refereeing. Still doesn't mean Jagielka's red wasnt a sending off. You cant keep kidding yourself that it shouldnt have been a red when the letter of the law says it is. There is no question from the replays he caught Jota's ankle so if the ref thought he was excessive in his tackle thats a red.

The big issue i have with it is the excessive force part of the rule is down to the interpretation of the referee. Like i said before, you cant stop your momentum when you make a challenge, so in theory you can make a good tackle, but your momentum takes you into your opposing player and if the ref thinks its done with excessive force, its a red. I just dont know how they consistently get decisions like that correct when there its down so much to interpretation.

I never said either i'd be happy with the free kick being moved forward ( or backward if it helped for that matter ), dont know why you seem to think i did. I just made the point moving it forward probably made very little difference to Neves in the scheme of things. If you want to get really technical, the distance from the edge of the D on the outdise of the 18 yard box to the penalty spot is 10 yards, and the Everton wall was just barely on the penalty spot, if at all. So considering Neves had the ball placed closer in than the edge of the D, wouldnt that mean the Everton wall wasnt back the correct distance as well?

Mate, i'm not disagreeing i think reds for tackles like that arent harsh, i think they are, but its the way the game has gone. Just winning the ball these days isnt the end of a tackle.

Fair point about moving the ball back, never crossed my mind ( even though i think Neves would still have scored it :D ), but i am right about your wall not being back the full 10 yards as well then :p

Alright mate just take your free kicks from where ever you want this season. Was a disgrace by the ref. Wasn’t even close to being the correct spot.

Watched MOTD and really firstly poor pass from Keane should have passed up front. Then jags should have hoofed instead of being clever. But not a red for me, yellow yes. Then the ball was moved about 10 yards forward if it had been taken where the foul took place it would noe have beaten Pickford. He stepped to the riht because it look like it was being set up to loop over the wall.

If we had not gone down to 10 we would have won this easily. Richarlison took his goals well, the second was great build up play from the thrown in. All this without our big signing!

It would be interesting to split any vote into how old you are.
I'm old school and that tackle was a great tackle in my day, crowd would be applauding.
If you are 30 and under, I would guess that you are in the penalty all day long camp.
What happened to defending being an art the same as scoring goals? You can't tackle without someone doing a triple salco these days.
And what the hell is " he went in with excessive force " how can you play a physical game without trying to impose yourself over an opponent?

I'm 45 mate, and to me its a good tackle all day long. I think they are trying to protect players so much from bad tackles they have gone a step too far in some situations.

So you are ignoring then your wall not being back far enough? Or do we just forget about that

You lot have changed your tune. This time yesterday we were going to be given a football lesson, now our wall was 9 yards back.

We get it every season mate. Some faded club pops up, or some new kid on the block gets lucky, and all of a sudden football has been reinvented. Enjoy the season, you have far too much quality to go straight back down on the pitch, but this league is very unforgiving.

What’s that got to do with the free kick being taken 6 yards in the wrong position closer to the goal. It’s awful from the ref. Who’s knows if he still scores from further out but I am guessing it would be less likely.

After rewatching the game the second goal is disappointing, Neves has all the time in the world to cross that, bit annoying tbh.
