Tbh my wife's a teacher, a tough gig that a lot from the outside just see as 9-3.30 with massive holidays, but she'd admit that even for the rubbish teachers (of which there are plenty) its a job for life on a decent salary and conditions.
Im not trying to justify typical footballers wages, im trying to justify women footballers wages which if we're putting a figure of £4k/mth £48k per annum gross, over 8-10 years... is not massive money.
But compared with most it IS massive money. I believe the average UK salary is around 26k but the mode salary ... ie what most people earn is around 19k.

Teaching can be a job for life. However the vast majority of new teachers last fewer than 5 years before thinking better of it and going off to earn more very easily. I wanted to do it for life ... as a vocation... and managed 28 years before the love and respect for the career I had just evaporated.

Do the cricket county championship attendances and a comparison to the wages the men get.
The wage bills of many county cricket clubs are largely paid by the ECB from the money that comes in from broadcasting fees and profits from the 100 competition and a large number of players have earning potential during the English winter by appearing in overseas franchises or coaching/playing appointments abroad. Only the counties with international grounds and facilities could survive without the ECB money. I believe Lancashire could pay the entire 2019 salaries bill from the profits of the Hotel at Old Trafford. The revenue generated by attendances at the county championship is probably not worth considering.

Pretty comparable in salary though for the lower earners. The minimum salary is about £24000 I think.
