Women's Euro 2022

I'm starting to think men's football is massively overhyped. The women's game has been going a fraction of the time and with a fraction of the money, but it seems to only a few years off in terms of quality.

I'd be over the moon with that. Years of study at university and after nearly 30 years teaching and I was on half that!
For 8-10 years max, then back to civvy life.
Cant see there being huge money for 95% of these girls on the after dinner circuit when their careers are over.

Mens football has been massively over hyped for years. Not just a recent thing.

Obviously love the sport hence why I'm on this forum. But I get just as much enjoyment from a range of other sports which don't get rammed down my throat in the same way.

There are plenty of ordinary people who have to change careers after a while. Normally without the luxury of knowing it'll happen.
It grinds my gears when people shout the "its a short career" excuse to justify obscene footballers wages - so at thirty go get a fork lift licence like normal people. Obviously this applies less so, currently, for women footballers.

My sister has gone with her family for a few years now. Its good fun win or lose without the toxicity you get in the mens game.
In the Women's game, the away fans mix with the home fans and you never get one bit of trouble usually, though the away fans can stand by one end by the goal, but they usually wonder about in the end, its basically sit/stand wherever you want, whoever you support

.....and the associated hype.
Don’t forget that Sky et al manage to hype the most tedious game into the stratosphere at least once a week. For the Women’s Premier League to properly take off financially, sadly it will need to move away from terrestrial TV.

I mean I’m not sure it will ever match the quality. First female premier league player is some way off
