Political leanings aside the collective glee at Rapinoe missing the penalty is really quite weird.
Americans arrogant ???? Never !!!I always found that US team to be quite arrogant (speaking solely sports wise, nothing to do with their politics) so it was fun seeing them slip up, the same way I'm sure quite a few like it when other successful teams lose (such as when the imperious Barca side would lose a game or when The Galacticos would lose, or Man United under Ferguson, or Liverpool in the 70's and 80's, or Germany in the 80's and 90's etc)
It's part of the price that comes with being successful sometimes, folks will like it when you fail, especially if you play up to your success when times are good
But if that were the case, the bookies would have the odds for all clubs as equal. All at 20-1 as their chances of winning it were equal in this meritocratic Premier League.
The bookies odds reflect the reality that the Premier League is not a meritocracy, that real world issues like finances and ownership impact significantly and that Football is not now and never has been, a meritocracy. (Although pre 1992 the impacts damaging a meritocratic status were less).
Gone right of topic with this. Apologies.
But not totally unexpectedPolitical leanings aside the collective glee at Rapinoe missing the penalty is really quite weird.
Underrated the old cross and head or pull back goals, very effective if you have a winger worth their saltFrance 1 up, what a terrific goal, love goals like that, quick passing down the wing cross into the box, headed goal.
