Women's World Cup 2023.

What level of men's team would beat the women's world champions?

Just to gauge where the women's game is at.

League 2 leaders? Mid table League 1?

🤷‍♂️
These women are at the top their game and are quite deservedly lauded for that . . but it's not even the same sport.
It bears little comparison to mens football.

IMO of course

To be fair, nobody is pretending "they can give the boys a game" - no more than people imagining Serena Williams might beat Rafael Nadal.

It's its own spectacle. That's how it can be enjoyed.

Dont understand how these comments still come out of peoples mouths. The womens game is light years behind the mens in terms of funding, coaching, facilities etc. Although its come on brilliantly in the last 10 years its still going to be behind as they are playing catch up.

Now another 10 or 20 years from now you may have a point when women are level with the men technically, however the men will always have a big physical advantage in any sports, that will never change.

Said that to the lads in the pub last night and got laughed at.

This was basically my point. So why do people try to draw comparisons between the two? They are not and never will be comparable, even in 10, 20 or 100 years

Is it wrong to ask where they are at?

Seriously?

I can't even fathom the comparison. The last time I looked there weren't any men's teams competing in the competition because it was the women's World Cup. The only comparisons that need to be made are with other women's teams. Can just imagine these prats going to their kid's Sunday league game and complaining it's not like watching Real Madrid.

There is no reason women cant be as good as men in terms of technical quality in any sport, thats down to ability, coaching, will etc.

Women will never be as fast or as strong as men when it comes to elite sports, its nature.

Exactly, I played 7 aside with work and the woman on the team toe poked it into the top corner at one point and she got PLAYER of the match and rightly so.

I think your wording of its not even the same sport made it sound a bit dismissive of the womens game as a whole.

Its hard to judge though because the England womens team may be technically at the level of Championship (im not saying they are just an example) but physically would struggle against players in League 2 and get beat as the league 2 players are jyst too strong and powerful.

Im not sure you can ever compare them as men at any level will aleays have that big physical advantage. Thats my point.

I get the questions as they are both the top players in the same sport, but as above I dont think you can ever compare them due to the physical differences which will always be there.

Not intended as 'dismisive' I enjoy womens football - but my point was that it should never be compared to the men's game. Asking which mens teams would beat them is like asking would Dixie Dean get a game the current England team. It is just pointless.

Some of the women are already level with the men technically. Just like Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert were "level with the men technically" in terms of serve and volley and baseline techniques. That was never in doubt. What cannot be made up is the physical advantage men have. But it's irrelevant. It's like asking a man to race a horse.

Agreed. Those women footballers would take those so called prem players to the cleaners.

if Thelwell had any ambition he'd get them in ASAP

For the time being, there is a lot less media toxicity surrounding the women's football. Let Wiegman build a dynasty and the ladies enjoy their success. Don't need the entitlement of the chaps turning up to ruin the party.
Rarely ahead of the curve. I wonder if there's been a load of social media abuse to run parallel with what happened in the euro's final for the men.
