Not really. Both concern people killing a certain group in the name of an ideology, but only one has been met with attacks on an entire group of people who are unrelated to it.

The IRA killed hundreds of British people on British soil. Muslim extremists have killed dozens of people on British soil. All Muslims are being tarred with the same brush, all Irish people are not.

More 'extremist nut job' Muslims than Sikhs, though, aren't there? Obviously not all - or even anywhere close to a 'minority' go out killing people or support those who do, but I reckon more Muslims interpret the Qu'uran wrongly than Christians do the bible, say.
