World Cup Groups based on Current PL/FL tables and FIFA Rankings (Arsenal = Brazil) - if I used actual rankings Everton (Colombia) and The RS (Italy) wouldn't qualify

Argentina (3rd) vs Saudi Arabia (31st of 32) - equivalent of Newcastle v Coventry!

"Results" so far:
Qatar-Ecuador - Luton 0 Preston 2
England-Iran - Man U 6 Nottm Forest 2 (no wonder Scousers don't like England)
Senegal- NL - WHU 0 Brighton 2
USA - Wales Leeds 1 Everton 1 (typical)

Really this just shows how much of a farce timekeeping has been for decades now

I have no idea why the referee is not allowed to just stop the clock for time wasting, injuries, or VAR.

The whole concept of added time is pointless. Just let the ref say time off and stop the clock. Then the game ends the next time the ball goes out of play with 90 mins on the clock

I agree completely

have they not installed some kind of air conditioning that blows across the pitch to keep it cooler...?
They have yeah but I don't think the temperature has been above 30 degrees yet. Maybe on average it is the hottest given all the games are basically in the same city. Games in Brazil were very spread out so there was probably quite a range of temperatures I guess

Is this true? I remember games in the Brazil World Cup with temperatures in the 30s and them having cooling breaks which I haven't seen in Qatar yet
That’s what I heard on the radio earlier.

Having just checked the weather forecast for this week in Doha though, I find it very unlikely that there hasn’t been temperatures higher than low 30’s in other world cups.
